Rasa Hotel, Restaurant & Art Space - Hotel in Kochi - Ernakulam, India

We went to the restaurant for lunch. It is a lovely first torey space to eat lunch. You can overlook some of the local streets of Fort Kochi. The decor was interesting and staff helpful, but the food was very average. They made a mistake with our Biryani. For some reason came out seriously inedible - very bitter. I don't know how they could have made a mistake that bad. They went back and fixed it but it still wasn't the best. The other dishes were also somewhat lacking in there quality compared to many other foods would have had in India. I don't think I would go back again.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights as we explored Cochin. The two young men who run Rasa Hotel are excellent hosts. They helped arrange transportation from the airport and a very late check-in, set us up with a fantastic tuk tuk tour of the area (don't pay what the drivers suggest in the street!), and even had contacts we could tap elsewhere in Kerala. The food in their place is also delicious and affordable. The hotel is situated in an ideal location, near shops, cafes, and the waterfront. Just clarify about the Aircon before you book, as we misinterpreted what we read online, but the ceiling fan was totally adequate. Be prepared for brown outs, which happened everywhere we stayed in Kerala. Very good value for the money. Also, make sure to visit the Kerala Kathakali Centre down the street, they have a number if amazing programs that will give you some genuine insight into this unique culture. The hotel is with OYO, yet the complimentary breakfast was not provided. Rooms are great. Their kitchen/restaurant has closed down permanently. Easily accessible location at fort kochi. Hardly 5 mins walk from the beach. Hotel located exactly opposite to the house of the famous Indian singer Yeshudas. (House has been sold out long back by him but that property still carries his name.). Overall a great experience at RASA HOTEL.

I stopped in around 15:00 for a late lunch and loved it. The space is decorated beautifully and kept very clean. I ordered a zuchinni and mozarella wrap with an iced coffee and it was delicious. The staff was very kind, and took the time to give me their personal recommendations throughout Kerala. Well done!

Nice modern restaurant and pleasant attentive service. Very westernised commercial version of simple Indian dishes. The seafood Biriyan was dry, i.e. rice was crunching in parts. Definitely not for people used to eating Indian food in their home city!

One word, avoid! This was the worst dining experience I have had in India. The waiter at first appeared uninterested but soon just became plain rude. I had to ask someone else to serve us. Food was average at best and not worth the service. Please spend your money somewhere else, they do not deserve it here.

The room was ok. AC worked. Other than that - DO NOT understand how this place has good reviews. First - it felt abandoned. I was there for three days, during that time I didn't see a single person other than me staying in a room or in the restaurant. Second - 70% of the time the whole place had one single employee who was clueless and barely spoke any english. The "breakfast" was 2 pieces of toast and an oily omelette. No salt, no butter. Hot shower? Works only in the evening. In the morning the water were cold. I asked for help and they tried fixing it and failed until i gave up and showered anyway. At my checkout time, the employee suddenly said i have to pay an extra 600inr because of tax. They DID NOT mention this ahead, and if they did, it was with a terribly broken bad english, so I did not understand. Ended up to needing to argue with the owner on the phone to get the anyway exaggerated price of 1500inr per night. Don't stay here.

We loved the hotel, the staff and the food! Superior double room is amazing and the bed is huge. The staff were also really enthusiastic about the concert we played in town and advertised to the guests. Awesome hotel, definitely stay there!
