Rajnagar Palace- a hidden gem of India.. tucked away in a small far away village of Rajnagar in Madhubani district of Bihar, this palace is truly one marvelous piece of art that represents the grandeur and majestic culture of India. The dilapidated walls once served as the dwelling place of the rulers of Madhubani and Darbhanga in Bihar. Now in complete ruins, a part of it is used as a local government College and another part of the huge property hosts a BSF camp. The carvings and the architecture symbolises the rich history of India and the opulence of the native Maharajas of this diverse land! Unfortunately there is almost no maintenance by the state government and only the cracked walls and the ruins stand tall with every brick exposed to the seasons. This has the potential to be a major tourist attraction but sadly, hardly any people know about this place or will ever visit this place. This forlorn palace will forever remain lonely hidden from the rest of the world and people shall miss the opportunity to witness such a 'gem' of our country.
We ware searching for something which we can visit in Rajnagar and finally we get here something to see. It is a historical place of Mithilanchal. It was the palace of Darbhanga maharaja. Its architecture is beautiful. architecture of the palace is designed by keeping security measures. you can also watch here the combination of modern science. special designed windows quite impressed me. The best part of the campus I felt is the ma kali marble temple where there is a big bell hanging infront of the temple. you can feel fine art of the temple by touching the art on the marble.
In the palace, you'll find the oldest-known Madhubani painting. Durga Bhawan is located near the palace's entrance. A pond may be found in front of the Durga Bhawan. To the north of the pond is a temple sacred to the goddess Kali. A seven-storey tower dominates the Navlakha palace's central area. In a building with three courtyards on the Durga Bhawan's western side. The Bari Maharani's two-story white palace is north of the palace. Several paintings of Deity Tripura Sundari
It's not maintained. So sad to see the condition
Located inside the Navlakha complex, this building (likely) served as the residence of the ladies of the royal family. It's a simple single storey structure surrounded by high walls all around with a single entry gate. From the entrance too, the Mahal is curtained off by a wall so that outsiders do not get a view of the Mahal. There is a lush garden with a number of mango trees. This building too, like most others had fallen to disuse. It now serves as mess and accommodation for officers of the SSB battalion headquartered in the campus. Not accessible by outsiders.
Very beautiful historical place that was palace of 'Queen of Darbhanga' But now it changes into ruins due to lack of care...
Great piece of history at Rajnagar. Ruins of palace belonging to Darbhanga Maharaj
