Buses are the most feasible transport mode to reach Rameshwaram from Madurai. It takes almost 3.30 hours to reach from Madurai and the same way back. Trains services are halted at present due to repair work on Pamban bridge. Between, Madurai-Rameshwaram A/c (190/-) and non-a/c buses are available at nominal fare. AC buses are less frequent compared to non-A/C buses which run at 2 hours intervals. Tickets are available with bus conductors, there is no pre booking or seat allotment. Very near to temple and taking an auto service costs only Rs.100/-. The auto drivers are well acquainted by almost all the hotels with its name to take you to the one of your booking by telling its name. Bus services are very frequent and you can ask the bus conductor in simple English. They are very helpful
