Ramar Padam - Hindu temple in Rameswaram - Ramanathapuram, India

Ramar padam is a small temple dedicated to lord rama and his foot steps presented here. It is situated on a slightly elevated space (parvat), the whole rameshwaram city looks amazing from here. Timings-6 am to 6 pm. It gets dark pretty early at this side of country, try to reach early in the evening. Small shops and market is nearby.

The temple is on a small hillock called Gandhamadhana Parvat. The divine feet of Ram is found here. It is the location where it is mentioned Hanuman ji went to Sri Lanka in search of Sita Mata. You can see nice views of Rameswaram from the hillock

This temple has footprints of Prabhu Shree Ram, hence the name. There is a small hillock on which the temple is located. From the top you also get beautiful view of Rameswaram. The legend is that this is alfo the Gandhamadana hill and the Gandhamadana teertha is locsted beneath this place. A must do place while in Rameswaram.

Had not planned a visit but, it was an unexpected visit to Rama Patham. Felt very origin of the most historic places to visit in India, This place has well equally balanced stone plates the support the figurine of a building that gives History a new look. You can glance at the pictures that made my day. Plus point was able to capture a 61 year old Doordarshan TV broadcast channel started in 1965 which aired on (AIR) also known as ALL INDIA RADIO BY PRATIMA PURI. Her voice left an Iconic foot print for those who had experienced it.

Rama Charan are here. Amazing view from top. You can see rameshwaram temple as well. Almost no crowd. Very accessible and 3 km from Rameshwaram temple. You can go by car or by bus as well. Parking space is there and along with shopping stalls for fresh fruits and souvenirs l Ramar Patham is a historical significate place where Lord Rama and his army were resting and planning their journey to Sri Lanka. This is situated in a small hillock and a flight of stairs takes you to the small temple which has Ramar Patham the imprint from where Rama is believed to have seen Lanka. After the darshan, one can go up another floor for a wonderful view of Rameswaram including the very tall Doordarshan tower. Nice shops in the vicinity that are moderately priced compared to the Danushkodi shops.

It's a hill top temple where SriRam's foot exists. You get to view the entire Rameshwaram over the hill top. One of 12 spots to visit in Rameshwaram for tourists

Ramar patham is very good spot in rameswaram. Try to go in early morning or evening. Other vice very hot in steps to the temple. We can remove our shoes at the end of the steps. A lot of shops are there fancy shops, tendercocunut shop, sugar cane juice shops Toy shops in the way of this temple. Parking is available down side. No parking fees . We drank tendercocunut cost of 50 rupees. Ramar Pathan means we can see the feet of Lord sreeram. It's inside metal plates. The Pooja Pandit is telling the story behind to the tourists. Good must visit spot in rameswaram.
