Most Important Place to Visit for all Reaserch scholars. Oldest and superb paintings with statues and sculptures ... Need to provide a little bit more maintenance and also some lighting needed with some guide explaining each and every things inside . Need to open the upstairs for visiting . Our rich tradition and ancient statues can be explored here very much .. main thing to see is the seat of British empire , paintings of Ramayana and some old tools Visit the temple at side

Not worth it. Only visit here if you have to stay around ramanathapuram and have absolutely nothing to do.. I visited on Sunday and there was no one except the guy collecting the fee Place is very well connected via public transport. There is small entry fee here, and they collect a fee even to take pictures via mobile phone Its open till 5PM. Place is under ASI and is seems to be maintained decently. From outside, it looks good. Inside its not good at all They have few paintings, archeological findings, sculptures, pictures. Place had a really weird vibe. On one hand they have old sculptures from BC, but on the other hand the place seems to have been renovated recently with tile floors and carpets, cement, wood reinforcements, poorly maintained painted walls. Place is poorly lit and is little dirty too Place is constructed around 18th century, but had sculptures from 1BC and 17AD. Unsure why they are present here. Seemed irrelevant

Must visit this palace to know history around that place(ramanad & rameshwaram),details of weapons used, musical instruments, statues on the King ruled periods. Worth it & will be more interested if went with some random details about the ramanthapuram palace and incidents happened there.

It is just a palace in ruins. Need a lot of restoration. Some wall paintings are really good but that to require touchup. If restored it will be one good place for tourist to know the facts which are not well documented in our history.

Ramanathapuram one of the ancient palace in india, this people use to call Sethupathi Maharaj, sethupati raja only Sponser swami Vivekananda go Chicago event, it's histrionic moment, they have more temple build like Rameswaram,uthrakosamangai and nainarkoil

The archaeological museum belongs to Sethupathi of Ramnad and includes sword, gun, iron spear, boomerang and antiquities from Alagankulam excavations and more. It also has various paintings of royal warfare, Gods and Goddesses. Entry tickets Rs. 5 and if you want to take a photo then you need to pay Rs. 30 extra.

Ramanathapuram or Ramanad palace was built in the 17th century portrays the past glory of King Sethupathi. This palace is a heritage building which is under the control of State Archaeological Department and is best known for its mural paintings with natural dyes picturing the historical days ok King Sethupathi. The palace also holds complex weapons which were used by King Sethupathi on various wars. The palatial complex includes their private royal rooms, many buildings, temple and durbar hall which is today a museum.

Not much to learn, can visit this place if you have no clue where to be.
