Nice place of historical importance. Nothing much to see here except for the fact that we get to see the house of such an important person. The team for excavation at Mohenjodaro was led by Rakhaldas Banerji himself.

Very good place to visit for a day trip.

Heritage House

Rakhaldas Banerji was an eminent archeologist of India, who discovered Mohenjo-daro, the principal site of the Harappa civilization. His house is situated in choyghoria village, near Bongaon city, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. This house has been declared as heritage site by government of west bengal. Nearest rail station is Bongaon Junction. Jessore road is situated nearby this house. And famous India-Bangladesh Benapole border is nearby (20 minutes by e-rickshaw) from this house. Some features of this house- 1) some of his family members still live here, so visitor need to maintain their privacy 2) washroom for visitor is not available. But on request to the family members, they allow to use their washroom. 3) each year durgapuja is celebrated here 4) wheelchair accessible entrance is not available. 5) as there is open area around this house, so wheelchair accessible car parking available.
