Modern Government Hospital, RIP Private Hospitals. A new Era as begun, Clean rooms, Caring Nurses and Doctor's. Any kind of health issues getting cured at no cost. Free health service at good quality. Have to give credit to the hospital management, health department and government of Tamil Nadu. Lots of talks about high quality private hospitals and low quality government hospitals but things have changed a lot now. My Aunt admitted here as a last option from a specialist private hospital after spending thousands of rupees. She felt much better atmosphere here and getting cured now with free service. Right from parking well managed by securities with token system. Outside and inside the hospital it's clean like in Appollo hospitals. Staff's, Nurse's and Doctor's well equipped and knowledgeable. I had the opportunity to give blood for my Aunt, happy to help the hospital. I would say everyone in TN even people with money try Chennai GH 1st then move to private hospitals if can't be cured. You can save lots of money and will be given good service with care better than private hospitals. God bless.

Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital is a major state-owned hospital situated in Chennai, India. The hospital is funded and managed by the state government of Tamil Nadu. Founded in 1664 by the British East India Company, it is the first modern hospital in India. In the 19th century, the Madras Medical College joined it. As of 2018, the hospital receives an average of 12,000 outpatients every day. The Government General Hospital was started by 16 November 1664 as a small hospital to treat the sick soldiers of the British East India Company. Sir Edward Winter who was the agent of the company was instrumental in the establishment of the first British Hospital at Madras. In its early days, the hospital was housed at the Fort St. George and in the next 25 years, it grew into a formal medical facility. Governor Sir Elihu Yale (the initial benefactor of the world-renowned Yale University) was instrumental in the development of the hospital and gave it new premises within the Fort in 1690. By the year 1772, the hospital was training Europeans, Eurasians and natives in Western methods of diagnosis and treatment and methods of preparing medicines. These trained personnel were posted to various dispensaries in the district headquarters of the then Madras Presidency to assist the qualified doctors. Subsequently, the hospital was turned into Garrison Hospital in 1814. By 1820, the institution had the recognition as the model hospital of the East India Company. In 1827, D. Mortimar was appointed as the superintendent of the hospital. The Madras Medical College started off as a private medical hall run by Mortimar, and was regularised into a medical school in 1835, which was opened by the governor, Sir Frederick Adams. The governor then promulgated an ordinance to make the school a state-sponsored one and attached it to the General Hospital. In 1842, the H-shaped main building was constructed, and the hospital was opened to Indians.Simultaneously, the medical school was upgraded into Madras Medical College and started functioning from 1850. Between 1928 and 1938, the hospital was expanded to a great extent owing to the growing number of patients. A. L. Mudaliar was appointed as the first Indian principal of Madras Medical College. Since 1935, with the creations of various departments, new buildings were constructed and the Public Works Department started maintaining the hospital. By the end of the 20th century, the government decided to demolish the old building and replace it with two tower blocks at a cost of Rs 1,050 million.

Hospital treatment is somehow good but the attitude of the doctors and nurse won't consider as humans, still agree they need to manage thousand of patients but it not good show their bad face to all of us. The saddest think the doctors and updating the patient case history properly to their family members. Until we step in and push they we will not get any single bit information. Four wheeler parking is not available, even though they have enough space, its being shame that such big hospital doesn't have the car parking facilities. Who are coming from outstation will get suffer only the doctors cars are allowed.

My mom facing blood cancer. We went there within 10 months. Our Doctors curied my mom. One of most experienced doctors in that hospital. Doctor behavior is good but service provider/house keeping all are very bad each and every patient shifting thay ask money with barking

My aunt who had a fall during the month of July 2023 was hospitalized in Rajiv Gandhi GH, Chennai in the month of October 2023. She underwent a surgery at a private hospital before being admitted to Rajiv Gandhi GH. She has been in Rajiv Gandhi GH for more than a month and was under the treatment of Dr. Manibalan. She has multiple complications in her body and health. So, the Doctors treated her and made her feel better and discharged to get more healthy to perform surgeries including heart surgery. Third day after she was discharged, she developed a severe cold and phlegm. Since she is bedridden we could not take her to nearby clinic. So, her sister (my mom) who is 74 years old reached out to Dr. Manibalan requesting to prescribe tablets for the patient's cold. Though the Doctor has a busy schedule, he not only attended my mother's call but also prescribed tablets on watsapp for my ailing aunt. We were really impressed and touched by Dr.Manibalan's humanity, service, and treatment. Government hospital Doctors treat patients well. While we keep complaining about Government hospitals, I would like to give a shout out to Dr.Manibalan for his kindness and service to the patients. Thank you again, Doctor!

Today I had very bad experience from the Casuality HOD Gomathi. She is treating each and every patients and the Bystander's like her slaves. She don't deserve that position anymore. She is showing her arrogant attittude to everyone. She don't have any mercy or grace on her behaviour towards patients. Accidentally I went to this hospital today from HC Madras. I will never ever go to any GH any more in my lifetime. TN Medical Department should take severe action against this lady doctor.
