Rajaji National Park is an Indian national park and tiger reserve at Shivaliks, near the foothills of the Himalayas. The Park spans over an area of 820sq. Km which includes Rajaji, Motichur and Chilla wildlife sanctuaries and parts of Dehradun. It is a paradise for nature lovers like me. The park is home to elephants, tigers, leopards, deers and ghorals, and a wide variety of birds like peacock, vulture etc. It was named after the famous freedom fighter C.Rajgopalachari popularly known as "Rajaji". It has mainly four Safari Zones (Chilla, Jhilmil, Motichur, Ranipur) in order to manage and balance the number of tourists. The park opens at 3pm on summer and 7am on winter or monsoon seasons and remain close for some days due to heavy rain or fog. We visited this park on a weekday on summer at near about 1.30pm and so we have to wait for near about 2hours to enter the jungle area by sufari. We visited the chilla zone. A 36 km drive in this safari zone is very popular. It takes 3-4 hours to complete the safari. From entry to Mundal Sot track passes through dense forest as well as open Chaur. It is example of a mix jungle. Asian Elephant, Tiger, Leopard, Spotted deer, Sambhar, Langoor, Barking deer, Jungle cat etc animal found here. Pied, Great Hornbill also main attraction on this range. We have seen wild elephants, peacocks(male and female), vultures, mostly spotted deers, sambar, monkeys and some footprints of other animals as well, the guide had shown us. Though we have not seen any tiger or pied or hornbill but I'm not much disappointed as it was my first jungle sufari. I can say I enjoyed my 4 hours(approx) journey .
Rajaji National Park, Uttarakhand The park nestled between the Shivalik ranges and the Indo-Gangetic plains. It includes Haridwar, Dehradun and Pauri Garhwal Districts. Due to dense forest, the environment forms a habitat for a number of animals. Once visit place.
Spread over in a huge area, Rajaji National Park is a best place to visit in summers. In winters there is highly faded chance to spot tigers, leopards etc. but you can see other animals anytime. Suggest you to take full day time to explore the park.
Not a good place in Hot summers hardly find any animal barring a couple of peacock and deer....do visit in oct to Feb time

We got to see so many varieties of deers , peacocks, monkeys, and wild hens
Dense forest with great elephant sighting
A national treasure of India, Tiger i am not sure but other animals can easily be spotted once you on their Jeep. No waiting and easily you can board Jeep once you park your vehicle. Keep plenty of time with you to relax and enjoy nature. Do carry your snacks and water bottle when you go inside with them.
