This is the most beautiful trek in Meghalaya. Trust me it's 13 km trek and you should be fit to do it as it takes a lot of energy. The view directs starting with double decker living bridge then a live swimming pool and then this view of rainbow waterfall is so mesmerizing. Do keep chocolates and water. It's closed on Sunday. Trek guide (local guide Michael )is must now and he was truly amazing . Must do thing if you are adventurous.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the mesmerizing Rainbow Falls in Meghalaya, and I must say, it was an experience that left me awestruck. Nestled amidst the lush greenery and rolling hills of Meghalaya, this hidden gem is a sight to behold. The journey to Rainbow Falls was an adventure in itself. As we trekked through the dense forests, we were treated to breathtaking vistas and the soothing sounds of nature. The trail was well-marked, making it relatively easy to navigate. Along the way, we encountered vibrant flora and fauna, adding to the enchanting atmosphere. Upon reaching the falls, I was instantly captivated by its sheer beauty. The water cascading down the rocky cliffs created a mesmerizing spectacle. The mist that enveloped the surroundings added a touch of magic to the scene. As sunlight filtered through the mist, it formed a stunning rainbow that arched over the waterfall, hence the name "Rainbow Falls." The sight of the rainbow blending with the lush green surroundings was truly a feast for the eyes. It felt like stepping into a fairytale. I couldn't resist taking numerous photos to capture the ethereal beauty of the falls. Every angle offered a unique perspective, and I found myself spellbound by the play of light and water. The tranquility of the place was another highlight. Far away from the bustling city, the sounds of nature were the only soundtrack to our visit. It was a serene and peaceful retreat, allowing me to reconnect with myself and appreciate the wonders of the natural world. I must commend the local authorities for maintaining the area so well. The path leading to the falls was clean and well-maintained, and there were safety precautions in place to ensure a secure visit. The presence of knowledgeable guides further enhanced the experience, as they shared interesting facts and stories about the falls and the region. If you're planning a trip to Meghalaya, I highly recommend including Rainbow Falls in your itinerary. It's a true hidden gem that showcases the untouched beauty of nature. Whether you're an adventure seeker, a nature lover, or simply someone seeking solace, this place has something to offer everyone. Note: It's advisable to wear comfortable shoes and carry sufficient water and snacks during the trek. Also, be prepared for a moderate level of physical activity as the trail involves some uphill sections.

The first point to note is that the falls can be accessed only from Double root living bridge at Nongriat. Therefore, pl remember that the access thereof is after the trek to Double Root bridges which is arduous considering that you've to climb down nearly 3500 steps to get there, which at a steep trot can take a little more than one hour. You may kindly access my review of Double root for more details. Whilst the board at Double Root mentions that it'll take another hour to Rainbow falls, pl remember that if you're doing it immediately after Double root, it'll take you at least one & half hours as the pathway is equally arduous with lots of climbing up and down stairs. The smart thing to do would be to start in the morning to Double root, spend enough time at the bridges and move on to Rainbow in the afternoon. Get back to Nongriat and spend the night there. You can climb back to Tyrna parking on the following morning. Otherwise, the whole package including the root bridges and the falls can be pretty tiring. However, we did the whole thing on a single day over seven hours. It was pretty tiring but mighty fulfilling too. I took care to ensure that my heart rate stayed within limits during the climb back with frequent breaks. The falls are best viewed in the afternoon on a sunny day, and preferably during the monsoons considering that the water would be adequate and the sun direction would be such as to facilitate formation of the . It's definitely worth a visit. You cannot reach at the bottom of the falls as that is not permitted and neither is it accessible. Hardly any water or snacks point enroute or at the falls. No toilet too. So, carry what you want from the Double Root. Pl make sure to get back whatever you carry thereto to preserve nature in it's pristine state. The trek to the falls is also beautiful as there are some streams and a root bridge enroute. A waterfall worth a visit, though a little arduous.

We have to trek to reach this place, the route is really beautiful, we can see beauty of greenery and rivers. Trek from double root bridge to rainbow falls is bit tough. Be careful while going.

This is a cherry on cake experience once you reach Double Decker Living Roots bridge. The route is risky and there is a tough living roots bridge which is loose and we passed via it very carefully. The waterfall has super chilled water and bathing in it was a different ballgame. We thoroughly enjoyed our journey.

I visited this place in the month of May. After reaching the double decker root bridge ,you've to go on straight road to Rainbow falls, for reaching this place. I would suggest hire a guide.why? There are places with diversions you may end up going in wrong direction. You may not get lost but as this place requires stamina & time too. For exploring it, If you're solo traveller or in group not wanting to hire a guide. Another thing, here guides & locals are not annoying like other places they are very humble & kind people so if they suggest hiring a guide if you dont like it just say we can manage please don't try to argue. They won't bother you after that & just incase if you're getting confused about the diversion , wait for few mins & you'll find someone coning or going in same direction then try asking, people are kind to help you. So as to reach Root bridge you have to trekk down 3300 stairs but to reach Rainbow you have to trekk up 3000 stairs and in between you'll find small shops and Blue lagoon too. They experience that this place gave me, will always hold a place in my heart. That exhausting trekking up and another thing here your telecom network will not have any signals and travelling in meghalaya always carry cash over online transactions.

This place is not just a mere waterfall, It's an emotion. After trekking about 3hours and (approximately) 8000+ stairs when someone arrives there, the scenic beauty just takes the soul & mind away. Though it requires some pain but this place is worth going & the scene breathtaking.
