Be aware about all the fake reviews about the host. It is a trap as I stepped in that trap. Host is very aggressive nature every time he will start fighting with you. I can't talk nothing good about it. Very poor service. Smells in the rooms blankets bedsheet. I asked the host to change it but the owner told me to buy my own blankets if it smells. Very poor service and behaviour of the owner and the last thing the dirty path which leads to the stay. What a dirty path. Every time I go in and out to the hotel I had to close my nose and mouth.
A good place to stay.Owner is a very well behaved. Though he is old, he himself came to Godwalia Chowk to direct us to hotel as cabs or autos are allowed till that point only instead of giving directions on phone call. He treated us like his own family. If any one loves to stay in a 150+ year old house within a budget, this is the place to opt for. Temples and ghats are near by.
Host is a very humble person and helps u in gathering information about Varanasi and it's places to must visit. He is a good person. Only reason for giving 4* are: 1. Food not available 2. Property is very much inside gullies Reason for giving a good rating: 1. Good rooms 2. Helpful host 3. Minimal distances to important ghaats
Bad behaviour by owner. If there was an option of giving zero star I would have given that. The worst hotel ever. I The gali of the hotel is very dirty, it's located at the end of the gali, way inside than shown in maps location. Please pay 200-300 extra and book a good hotel. This stay will ruin your tour. Please be aware of the fake reviews about the owner. Smelly rooms, Taps not working properly, no proper ventilation in room, are just few of the cons.
The rooms are quite spacious given the price for a night. The bathrooms are also big and there is a continuous supply of hot water for winters. Since we stayed there during winters hence cannot comment on the AC workability part but they already have an AC mounted. Overall rooms are good. This place is run by a family and they stay on the upper floor. It is situated at a very quiet location but also near to the Vishwanath temple and the ghats. Only downsides are that they do not have any provision for the food. One will have to go out to eat all three meals. This kind of situation is difficult for the families. Hence rated this hotel as 3star. Cleanliness is another part which is lacking, there are rats running during night time. Overall it can be recommended for the budget travellers if they are ok to go out and eat. The host was very amicable.

AC rooms are congested, owner ok but no room service, no soap, towel, drinking water.
Host is fantastic. If you want old Varnasi house (uplifted) ambience then this is the place. Have to walk through the gullies of Varanasi to reach this place. Be prepared to walk atleast for 1.5kms from where the auto-rickshaw or taxi drops you as it is impossible to reach this place by car or auto rickshaw. So if you have heavy luggages then it's difficult.
