Rachna Books - Book store in Gangtok - East District, India

I had a wonderful experience at this bookstore. Their collection is moderate yet catering to a wide range of interests, and the ambiance was perfect for a relaxed browsing session. It's a book lover's paradise in Gangtok!

Peaceful location with outside seating to have tea next to running water. Great selection of independent, local, feminist, kids, environmental books, even horror section! Will def return.

This is one of the most beautiful as well as peaceful place to hang around. There is much more to ambience than is usually seen elsewhere. You can simply give the best company to yourself by getting your hands dirty with the best collection of novels of all genres. If you are fond of playing guitar it is at your disposal. I think you'll be short of time at your very first visit because it has lot to offer. It does offer coffee and some good snacks to enjoy your time here. A must visit place

If you are a serious lover of literature then you will love this cute little cafe cum bookstore. The cafe is on the ground floor and the bookstore is on the first accessed through a narrow wooden staircase. There is free wifi provided so a lot of people come here work as well. The cafe has limited menu options but the food and beverages are decent for the price. The bookstore section is well stocked and has a good variety of books ranging from different genres and shelved accordingly. Infact I think they have the best collection in town from Chomsky to Dalrymple to Rushdie to regional writers with autographed copies. Side Note : If you are someone who reads Chetan Bhagat/Durjoy Dutta, Amish Tripathi etc , you will probably not find them on the shelves and might be disappointed. (Just getting the expectations straight)

A lovely space run by lovely people. A beautiful independent bookstore with a nice coffee shop - you can spend an entire day here. Also once of the very places you can buy photographic film in Gangtok. I highly recommend a stop at Rachna books if you're here in Gangtok.

I love this place! The guesthouse is just above the beautiful book store. The rooms are basic and comfortable. There's even a mattress heater for the colder days. The owner is very nice and helpful. He knows a lot about books and does some great recommendations. The book store is unlike anything you've seen in India. It's a great collection of unique reads. In the coffee shop you can get some real good coffee (they also serve Vietnamese coffee!!). The coffee is grown locally, which is also a project the owner of Rachna is working on. All in all; great place! Especially if you love books
