Really a peaceful cottage with amazing garden and serene surroundings. Entry is absolutely free. Kudos to those who maintain it.
A bungalow where I believe Gurudev used to visit. It is owned and maintained by a private owner currently and is not open to tourists. At least we were not allowed to enter the house. We were allowed to walk around the outsides of the house, that is the garden and portico etc. The garden and portico was well maintained and the house too was well maintained from the outside. If you have a car you have to park outside on the roads and the road outside is pretty narrow, there was a long queue of cars parked along one side of the road. After much request we were permitted to take our car inside the premises and park.
The house is so well maintained by the Meghalaya government. It was an opportunity for a life time for a Bengali family like us to get the visit Kobi Guru's house in Shillong.
The house itself was beautiful and the surroundings serene. Best for spring feels because the variety of flowers is pretty!
Our national pride, poet Rabindranath Tagore lived in this bunglow for 3 months in 1923. This was not the first time Biswakabi was visiting Shillong (also in 1919& 1927). Now this place is a private property and maintained well with garden, flowers. You can't enter inside but you can roam around in premises and at the end you can leave a note here describing your experience.
A wonderful experience. This is a private property now , visitors can visit the house and view it from outside, from the veranda , in the left side room the belongings of Rabindra Nath Tagore are kept for display, visitors can have a peek into the room from the glass windows.
Here Rabindranath Tagore stayed for six months once in his life time. But the house belong to other person . The place is well maintained. No ticket booking is needed to visit this place.
