Quiet by the River - CGH Earth - Resort hotel in Thodakayam - Ernakulam, India

The property is absolutely stunning. 5-star service. Good food. The breakfast & dinner spot near the river is to die for. The sound of the water flowing is calming and the island is quiet and serene. The jeep ride is rather adventurous with the bumpy ride.

This was one of the best staycation we had in a long time. The place is gorgeous amidst the Perumbavoor forest, on the shore of Periyar. Well kept, clean and hygienic property. The rooms are spacious and have all necessary amenities, have a verandha where you can site and enjoy the sound of river and the nature. The staff is courteous, right from the time we reached there Manu welcomed us and took us to the property, the conversations we had with him was really good and we felt welcome within seconds of meeting him. Once we reached the property post the short canoe ride, we met Girish who is the manager of this property, he is very helpful, friendly and more over a very knowledgeable nature enthusiast. While we went on the sunset canoe ride he explained about the surroundings and about the few birds we saw. The food at this place is awesome, I was first reluctant to opt for Duck, but chef Mathew asked me give it a try, it would have been a huge miss if I wouldn't have tried it. The lunch on arrival was too filling with traditional Kerala style meals with Chicken,Fish and Pork all of which was delicious and well prepared. I would definitely visit this place again and have added all other CGH properties to must visit list :D Try to book directly with them than using 3rd party apps as you would get better deals, I made the mistake of booking from a travel app.

My family and I've stayed at this resort on the 9th of November 2020. It's worth noting that the stay was one of the most relaxing and blissful one that I've experienced in recent times. The place is ideal for those who want a weekend getaway from their busy lives and for those who are dying to get out of their house during this pandemic. Surrounded by the river and the abundance of nature, this island resort is mesmerising for city folks. The place can also appeal to the adventurous. The journey to the resort, discovering natural pools along the banks of the periyar, trekking and bird watching are all sure the excite the adventure nerve in us. The food is another aspect of the resort that deserves applause. The dining experience included some of the best naadan dishes I've had and the credit goes to chef Mathew and his team. Overall, I am highly pleased with my stay and I would gladly recommend it for everyone to try.

My husband and I spent two utterly relaxing days at Quiet by the River, resting, watching the world go by, eating marvelous authentic Kerala food, and hiking in the forest. The chef, Matthew , cooks with skill and so much flavor. Nothing is compromised or turned down -- the spice level is what it should be. The General Manager and Naturalist, Girish, introduced us to the flora and fauna of the forest. His knowledge runs deep, and we appreciated his expertise. The cottages are quite comfortable, the staff is attentive and kind, and the surroundings are stupendous.

I had stayed at quite by nature resort for my honeymoon and I must stay it was on of my best experience. My wife too enjoyed it. The location and fecilities were excellent and mind blowing. Also I must thank Girish etan who took care of us and detalied everything about the place and took us for a walk. Also the chef Mathew have an excellent skill of cooking and we were so happy to have such a delicious food in the near past. Also thanking manu who took us there who was so gentle and friendly. I must also say punitlal who was there for overall service is man of great simplicity. Thanking every other staff at the resort. For me and my wife the overall experince was so amazing. Enjoyed the great ambince.

We had an incredible stay here. As its name says the place is quite and quiet by the periyar river. From a parking space it will take around 45 minutes to reach the property. thirty minutes in jeep and then in a canoe. Periyar river will be welcoming you with all its beauty . The stay was literally an out of the world experience with sounds of birds chirping and the river. View from the infinity pool was so great that it will make you reconnect with nature. Food was so sumptuous and chef mathew deserves a mention. He was very keen about our food preferences and made extremely delicious dishes.

I had stayed with my family in the Quiet by the river resort on 1st of October 2020. I must say it was such an amazing experience. I went with my wife and 2 children. We were welcomed with fruit juice at the gate and were led to the Royal cottage. Entry is from the back door. The scene when I opened the front door from inside...I will never forget in my life. Such beautiful is the Periyar river and the thick forest... The food was more than excellent. I must say Mathew (the shef) and his assistants in the kitchen are blessed with the skill of making such delicious naadan food. Mr.Gireesh (the naturalist) and Mr.Manu take care of every need with so much passion. We had a nature walk and a boating in the river. The candle light dinner on the bank of periyar was a first of a kind experience for us and after 5 years of marriage and with 2 children, we felt like we were on a honeymoon trip. The next day, when we said bye to the friends in the resort (they were not just staff, but we were friends by then) I was thinking when can we come back and stay once again. We will go again...its definite...

A jeep ride on a rocky road followed by a smooth boat ride into this property leaves one stunned and really at a loss for words which explains why the place is suitably called Quiet by the River! The food by Chef Mathew and amazing hospitality from Mr Girish and his amazing team served as the perfect combination to the untouched and beautiful views of the Periyar river around us. We enjoyed the bird calls and swam like children in the natural pool which is something you should definitely not miss. Carry your own beverages snacks and other essentials so you can have eveything you need as there is no immediate access to shops. This is the perfect place to feel close to nature and put your feet up and forget about the rest of the world. Wouldn't suggest the place for older people with walking issues but apart from that it is perfect to introduce your kids to the joys of nature away from city life ! The only phone service provider that works is Idea and sometimes Jio so please be prepared for that as well. Overall an absolutely stunning and satisfying 3 night stay, felt right at home and can't wait to come back sooooon
