Crystal clear water, you Can see the under water plants.. I have never seen such clear river water.. Early morning boat ride. It's Amazing, many foreign birds fly down to warmer climates as ours during severe winter season.. Poor man's Amazon they call it.. it's a definite worth a visit..

The serene waters spreaded across 9 km long channel of the Ox Bow Lake and the surrounding orchards and farmlands harbour more than 70 species of local and migratory birds from the other end of the world makes Purbasthali a birdwatchers paradise. Apart from this, the whole of Purbasthali region is steeped in history and religion. One can visit a weekend trip clubbed with surrounding towns like Nabadwip and Mayapur.

This was a nice place once but due to rulling party they are not maintaining the place accordingly hence it's now getting disaster day by day. Only in the winter you can come and ride boat which cost 150/- per hour including 4 person which is very less and reasonable that appreciated. The communication and public transport is very poor. Besides the place now private resort is constructed but the place is not safe after evening. The road is fully without light and very less light. This is not the place where i can spend weekend but we can stay here one morning to evening in the winter season. In the park there is room available but very high price. In the winter we can see lot of flowers. Previous in this place was popular as Siberian birds was coming but now a days only Egret is available. This place could be better and remarkable but in this place political party are not developed as a tourist spot, very lack of maintaining and lack of secured. Overall experience could be good, if you're coming from long distance please don't go as with the internet picture and real time atmosphere not matching. It's getting disaster day by day due to not maintaining this property.

It's my favorite birding destination throughout the year. Most people come here during winter but it has its own charm in every season. If you are a nature lover, do visit this place.

A beautiful place for photographer, nature lover. This is a strictly NO for picnic party, tourists, and who do not know how to respect nature (sad side most people actually understand this part). This is a place for local and migratory birds and this ecosystem is getting hampered by local people who are encouraging picnic and chaos for their monetary benefit. Nearby there are few stay options which are not up to the mark and many food stalls which run mostly seasonal business. On the other side boatman, fisherman have strong knowledge about birds and they are only persons worried about environment. Keep clean keep green. Lets birds live their normal lives.

Local name "Chupi char", the paradise for bird lovers, actually it is an oxbow lake, connected by Ganga. You have to hire a boat to explore the water body. Boat charges are reasonable and the boat men are hospitable. Birds activities are there through the year but best time to visit December to February as migratory birds come here. Train route is Howrah-Katowa local. Nearest station is Purbasthali Stn. Govt. cottages and private cottages available here. Mayapur Iskcon Temple is very short distance from here. I loved this place, Me and my team "Wild Lancer" visited here more than 15 times. These are what we spot here - Osprey, Common kingfisher, White-throated kingfisher, Pied kingfisher, Stork-billed kingfisher, Lesser whistling duck, Common coot, Cotton pygmy goose, Swamphen, Little grebe, Pochard and many more.
