Nice place to spend half a day...we reached around 7am and engaged a boatsman near the fish market who took us around for around 2.5hrs to few islands, spots to sight birds and thereafter to the beach. The lake is quite shallow, perhaps around a metro or so in depth, we could even see the bottom at certain places. We managed to sight pelicans, egrets, comrants and kingfishers, but no flamingos, it seems they come in Jan until around the 1st week of Feb. The Dutch cemetery is okay to view once - it is normally locked and you need to ask nearby for the keys, someone comes over and opens it in a few minutes. Only negative point about Pulicat is that it's not as developed, so you'll struggle to find decent restaurants for food and no proper restrooms too.
Island and beach was super. This place suitable for bachelor. They providing night stay @ island. They charging 1000rs per head it includes food, boating pickup and drop from sea shore to island, tent and camp fire. Food menu is fish curry, white rice, prawns fry , fish fry and crab fry.
The place is seen very good and the building is very attractive also. The small village and beautiful places. For picnic or one day trips we can prefer this place to spend with family and friends. So many islands are there. The travel agency also available
Excellent weekend getaway from Chennai. Boating during sunrise and sunset, Bird watching, lighthouse, lip smacking sea food and the landscape is just amazing There is also a newly opened hotel for staying the night.
Stopped at the bird sanctuary when returning from Sriharikota on sighting few flamingoes. The backwaters are breathtaking and a photographer's treat. The lake on the other end has few boats which offer to take a ride around the backwaters ...
Must visit place. Good approach roads without traffic. Best time to visit from Jan to Aug. We can spot Flamingo and other migratory birds. The boat trip will take 2 hours. Carry drinking water and some some snacks... Boat ride is 2000 per boat.
Ok for one visit. A boat ride in the not so deep lake is a nice experience. A round takes about 90 minutes. It's the fishermen who double up to take you around the lake and close to some of the birds resting on the landmass in the waters. You can see the gap from where the sea and the lake meet and also take a walk on the beach there too. It is a small town (?) and had limited facility for food etc. Best carry something with you.
This place is really amazing one. It has an island between the lake and sea shore.. it was calm and clean. Citizen movie shoot happened in that island it seems. I went on a boat ride during dusk time it was really very much pleasant. It's good place for family and friends.
Outstanding experience at Pulicat thanks to Franklin who helped with the trip and provided all the necessary details. Luke took me in the boat in to the lake for spotting the flamingos. Though they weren't there at their usual spots, he went out of h
It was an amazing experience to explore the nature and the birds especially the sound of the water and birds in the mist of calmness. It really good to spend the whole day with friends and family in an island like a view. To be in a place to admire a
Walked to the Dutch Cemetery. It's the oldest in India. Both sides of the arch say that it was built in 1656. Flanked by two skeletons. On the left it's a skeleton with an hour-glass, a symbol of mortality. On the right is a skeleton deep in though
Fort Geldria is essentially a Cemetary that was constructed by the Dutch settlers. However, this place has high historic value and is extremely well maintained. There is no entry fee and one can take amazing pictures here. The locals are highly frien
