Puja Guest House || Homely Guest House In Shillong - Guest house in Shillong - East Khasi Hills, India

I stayed in this hotel with my family from 29th Sept - 3rd Oct and will share my genuine experience. Pros & Cons in detailed manner 1. Location is near to police bazaar but there are 15 steep steps to get inside the hotel which is still fine but risky for aged person with heavy luggage during season. We were not sure regarding the steep steps, otherwise would have not booked due to family( senior citizen and knee problem) 2. When we visited they have done the painting work on doors and windows which were allergic to my family and was not known to us 3. They provide GF rooms only which was completely unknown to me otherwise in that price rooms and bathroom were fine 4. As the rooms were GF and are adjacent to kitchen you will get cooking (oil) smell during evening maybe (8.30 - 10)pm which was not told before hand to us. 5. They cooked homely food for my father mirchi free whenever we told them and kitchen is clean I would say but in the morning I found one guy was sneezing on cauliflower during toast, need to learn some manners I would say 6. Issues with laundry no guy available to pick up clothes from guest house we need to go and submit completely unaware of this. 7. Breakfast they would provide either bread omlett and one egg boil or roti sabji , when I told the owner for 8 egg boils for 4 members he denied saying either bread omlett or egg boil. My question to you if u don't know to manage customers, if people comes to your guest house also without knowing will stay at most 1 day 8. They close kitchen at 10pm I found one family came at 9pm and they were forced to have food by 9.30 pm strange behaviour atleast consider and co-operate they are tired 9. We asked for 1 hr extra as checkout time as 11am, but that Bengali cooking guy said no directly, new guest might come, I said only one room if u keep for washroom just still he said no, I told I need to talk with owner he said not possible. One request to owner give him the ownership as when we told him that last bill we will pay to the owner before hand could not see the owner on time during payment , could have met warly, how come your cooking guy turns a deaf ear to our request. Mr.Akash don't be rude for ur kind information we are guests learn to treat them properly every hotel\guest house upon request provides 1 hr grace ur not special dealing in hotel business. U say that u don't have rooms to accomodate and sending us to 3rd floor for washroom, is it possb for a senior citizen. U might be having one booking from my friend will tell him to cancel for ur behaviour. Your counter will not work in business i repeat now will put 1*. Moreover during checkout your caretaker or whatever did not tell us for luggage pickup or proactively came forward to take it forward. This is the caretaker (half owner) , now don't say we did not say everytime we cannot say ok Worst experience on first day painted room doors and cooking smell rest days are fine. Mr. Ashish try to visit guests if they have any issues, try to solve or atleast keep our small request for ur business instead of that cooking boy ( replica half owner)

One of the best homestay you can find in the Shillong, Police Bazar area. Location is prime. The hospitality of the manager, Sujit Das was so good. Also the owner Akash, whom I talked to over the phone before booking was so helpful, I was having some issues with payment of the pre-booking payment but he still managed me a room, and I paid during check-in. Again, Sujit Da also cooked for us, and the food was amazing, so home-like, my mom loved it a lot and she still talk about it. There is free wifi, 24hrs power backup and tv. Breakfast was complimentary.

Management has a very infuriating mentality. They close the gate at 10:30 pm, and they are absolutely adamant that they won't let you in after that. Such an absurd rule wasn't mentioned anywhere during booking, and we came to know of it only once we reached there. When questioned about it, the management gave the super absurd reason that an option to inform this didn't exist on Make My Trip. The location is almost impossible to find. There are no proper sign boards, and even when we got right to the entry path of the guest house, we were not able to find out where it was. We were extremely tired after a very long drive, and we spent another half an hour just to locate it. Lastly at 2.4k a night, the facilities were not very adequate. Definitely not going there back again. Edit: Dear review readers, I won't waste my time replying to the owner's so called 'explanation'. I just want to draw your attention to the disrespectful tone of the owner's reply. This is exactly the tone you will hear if you even dare to slightly disagree with them. You can also see this nasty tone in reply to other negative reviews. Trust me, staying there is not worth the incivility and nastiness of the management, no matter what else they offer. I am even more decided against ever returning there now.

Best Guest House in Shillong. Everything is excellent especially the food. It's like mother's recipie. The staff are very well behaved and helpful. The owner is a wonderful person. God bless him with good health and long life.

As the name suggests.. It was very homely & comfortable stay. Behaviour of the staff was very warm. Location is perfect & right inside Police Bazar. You'll get home like cooked meals as per your wish. Room was clean with all basic amenities along with geyser. You can opt this property if you're looking for a budget friendly & comfortable stay.

We were very happy with our decision to stay at Puja guest house. Our room was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Puja guest house has a great location in police bazar and is within walking distance from a number of tourist transport options. The service was excellent. Many thanks to Akash and his team for their amazing hospitality! We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast during our stay. We would highly recommend Puja guest house.

V v close to police bazar. If you have problem in reaching the hotel or taking the luggage ask the hotel staff. They will help u. The Bed sheet was extraordinary clean. The food was delicious and were at reasonable price. The behaviour of the staffs were jst awesome. I would like to specially mention about Sujit da. He is really a v nice person. Just a small suggestion. I felt that the blanket was little small in size and a little foul smell (not much) used to come from the windows for some time in the morning . This hotel is highly recommended in this price range

The room was clean, the staff behavior was good and the receptionist guy is Bengali so any Bengali person can communicate with him in Bangla. It's also close to the auto stand but a little bit hard to find.
