Opposite the Mahatma Gandhi statue on Rock Beach, you will find the historic Lighthouse in Pondicherry. This lighthouse was constructed by the French rulers during the 19th century and is currently undergoing extensive renovation. Notably, this lighthouse has a rich history of illumination. Initially, it was lit by oil lamps, and later, it was upgraded to electrical lamps. Access to the interior is restricted to the public during this restoration phase. However, even from the outside, the evening view of this remarkable structure is worth admiring. It adds to the charm of the Rock Beach area, making it a must-see destination during your visit to Pondicherry.
It's a nice lighthouse near Rock beach. I guess they repainted the whole thing and it looks as good as new now. Inside entry is not allowed so enjoy your view of the tower from outside.

We didn't go inside this light house but this looked very beautiful. This is a white coloured tower exactly opposite to Rock Beach. This beach looks like Marine drive as you have place to sit and go to the beach as well. You get to collect mesmerizing shells not just here but everywhere in Pudhucherry beaches. It was fun to play in the salty water but it gets very sunny early in the morning as well this time in July too.
