Prego - Italian restaurant in Hyderabad - Hyderabad, India

Prego means 'welcome' in Italian. An anniversary warranted a special dinner on this auspicious occasion. After a few choices were discussed, Prego, known for its Italian and located at the Westin Hotel in Mindspace was the winner. Ambience As can be expected, given its five star rating as a hotel, the restaurant too did not disappoint. Located on the lower level, the restaurant greets you with an array of wine bottles from different ages and varied locations. As you enter the dining area, you can visually see the kitchen and all it has to offer with the chef's keeping quite busy. Further down the dining we observed what seemed like a patio with a group enjoying their dinner. Above the kitchen were some slogans in Italian to give you an authentic vibe and one translation suggested "To have a stranger over for a meal is to find a new friend". Service Not sure if their service is usually slow, but in our case we were cozily tucked away enough that it became hard to catch the waiters when needed. This resulted in a longer than usual wait time, which was fine for a casual dinner but could be improved. Even the frequency of seeing staff walk by might have helped our experience in this regard. The courteous bit they did offer was a cold tiramisu when we mentioned the occassion for which we were there. We give them credit as it is the thought that counts. Food We ordered a fried starter of cheese which tasted quite nice. We added a couple of Pizzas for the family to share which were good, but could have been more Neapolitan for that authentic Italian experience. The tagliatelle Neopolitan was well prepared and I liked that it was available with chicken! The stand out dish for us though had to be the mushroom risotto. From experience and discussions with Italian friends, it is hard to get the risotto just right as the rice either gets overcooked or undercooked within just a few minutes while cooking. So only a professional can usually get it spot on and kudos to them for this! Overall, a good experience with appropriate rates. It could have been better for sure to get closer to Italian authenticity, but still a nice place for the odd occasion. Birthdays, Anniversaries, etc....

I had the chicken risotto, but forgot to get a picture. It was good, but not great -- somewhat salty. I did get a pick of the pina colada which was great. My dinner mates said the pizza was REALLY good! The wait staff was good, but the atmosphere inside the Westin was the best part of our visit. Initially, it was empty and quiet, but as the evening went on, the vibe picked up.

We booked from their website as our anniversary dinner, and we went there on time but our reservation was not registered. Foods are fine but took long time to serve. I also asked about some anniversary cake, but I didn't have any feedback till we left. I think their service need to be improved.

Just a fancy restaurant in a fancy hotel. The dining experience is not what you would expect after paying inflated prices. There were flies and fruit flies around us. The service was average. The food was not good. The pizza tasted real bad with very cheap tasting cheese. We also had the mushroom ravioli which was again very average. We ordered a mocktail as well which was supposed to be fresh orange juice but was watered down and did not taste good. There are much better Italian restaurants in Hyderabad.

This place is elegant with an awesome vibe. Been there for dinner date with my better half and the food was amazing. The service was speedy and friendly. Their Pizza is absolutely incredible! Loved the pool side dining. Service received from Shalaka is amazing. She knows how to give the best service.

This restaurant is present at the basement of the famed Westin hotel at mindspace IT park. This is definitely a fine dining experience which is off the charts. They specialize in Italian food and their menu is a very compact but varied collection of Italian dishes. The ambience is amazing but then again it's a fine dining one so that is expected. They also have an outdoor pool sitting area but it's better to sit there during winter or at late nights. The menu covers appetizers to some popular Italian main dishes. I started with the mushroom soup and it was just amazing with a proper smell and taste of truffles. I tried the thin crust pizza, pasta and lasagna and all were cooked to near perfection. Specially the lamb lasagna was just cooked to the perfect taste and texture.The staff are very nice and they can also customize as per your requirement. The price is sky high which makes it worth maybe once or twice but I wouldn't come to it frequently or for a hearty meal. 3 ppl can easily reach 3500 without drinks. The drinks menu plenty but extremely pricey. So if you are passing by or looking for some authentic Italian food definitely pass by.

Super awesome Salad display with huge variety of delicious veg n meat cuts. Pasta and Pizza has truly authentic feel in flavors n texture. Hospitable staff both in service and kitchen departments. Sad thing about the buffet is that they lack in Barbecue and Dessert section. Specially I found it very low on Sunday brunch. I ordered Chicken and Sole Fish cut from barbecue section to grill. Both the cuts were very dry n that too without any flavor. In desserts section, I picked up Tiramisu and it spoiled my previous experience also. There was no mascarpone feel and coffee flavor was also missing. Expecting much more from this property.....

A good respite from all the spicy food. Ingredients were fresh and good, though can't say flavours were totally Italian. Nice atmosphere though and great for a work dinner
