Prakriti Bhavan - Museum in Kabi Mohanpur - Birbhum, India

The place is really unique. I haven't seen anything like this. There are various rocks, which have undergone normal erosion. It depends on the viewer to imagine it accordingly. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

Prakriti Bhavan is a museum of nature arts in Ballavpur area, very close to Sonajhuri Haat in Shantiniketan. This museum is founded by Subrata Basu. They have an open outdoor garden space filled with rock sculptures and indoor displays of nature artifacts made of dry wood, rock, stone and metal. They are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm everyday. They also have a museum canteen to relish matka chai and local snacks. The most awestrucking moment would be to know that none of the sculptures and artifacts have had a human touch. It is the nature's creative erosion and natural occurrences that shaped these structures and have been secured and displayed here by the artists at the museum. The description of art by Subrata Basu, as seen and experienced by him, is worth taking time reading though and contemplating. It is bound to expand your mind.

Very very creative place. You can spend a lot of time admiring the shapes and the thoughts behind them. These are installed in the open area. They have two galleries too where yo can enter by taking off your shoes. I found it pretty absurd and a mindless rule because the entire place is so dirty already, what can they avoid by stopping shoes going inside. Anyway i didn't go inside.

Didn't like this place to be honest. This place is not for everyone. You can visit if you want. But what I liked the most was the frangipani tree outside the building. In case u get bored() with the wooden sculptures u can take beautiful pictures with those frangipani. Also there's a buddha statue situated next to this 'prakriti bhavan'.

Prakriti Bhavan is a nature museum situated near Shantiniketan, Bolpour. Inside a forest zone, this museum's atmosphere will refresh the tourists' minds.

The art is definitely interpretive and not everyone's cup of tea. It requires time, it requires adjustment of perspective and challenges your own vision at times. A truly different experience.
