Pothundy Dam, Palakkad - Hiking area in Kombankallu - Palakkad, India

Pothundi Dam, a magnificent place blessed by Mother Nature. First and foremost, the journey to the dam itself is a visual delight. The aesthetic presence of lush greenery all around makes the place a wonderful picnic spot. For adventure enthusiasts, Pothundi Dam has much to offer as well. Overall, it's a must-visit place that will reward one with an unforgettable experience.

Pothundy Dam is around 35 km away from Palakkad town. The dam is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some adventure sports, like ziplining and bicycle riding on rope, are available in the entrance area. A small children's park is also there.

Pothundi Dam is a small earthern dam situated en route Nelliyampathy, a hill station in Palakkad District. It is about 35 km from Palakkad and 56km from Thrissur district. The entry fee is 20 INR. There is a small garden also for falilies. It is a dam built for irrigatiin purpose and it caters to nearby places in Palakkad district. People visiting Nelliyampathy hills can visit this dam before climbing the hill road. There are many spots in the rooadside whih gives a clear view of the dam and adjoining places. "Pothundi Dam Constructed in the 19th century, it is considered one of the oldest dam in kerala .A popular festival held on the shores of the reservoir is known as the Nemmara Vallengi Vela Festival."

Beautiful views from the top of the dam are eye pleasing. The dam authorities definitely deserve appreciation for the cleanliness of the nearby park. Still some of the park rides like buggy racing aren't running currently, it's great enjoyment for children.

This is a beautiful place... It's a good place for picnics, to spend time with family and friends... Also there are a lot of good activities for children like the zipline, sky cycling, free fall, archery and many other more activities... Outside the Pothundi Dam there are horses where you can go for a ride... Also beautiful flowers in the garden and the surrounding makes one feel happy...

This is a Dam with beautiful background view. Entrance to the dam is through the park. There is ample parking space in front of the park. They have entry fee of Rs.20 per adult. Park is good and we need to walk through the park to reach Dam. There are roughly 115 steps to climb to reach top. View is beautiful with many mountains on the background. If we take route to Nelliampathi after forest checkpost there is a direct entrance to dam top. But this is locked for public. We can visit the Dam in evening as it's quite sunny in afternoon.

Visited during rainy season in July. Picturesque place. Good place to go for a wee stroll and enjoy views. There are few activities like Bunjee jumping (from a short height) and zip line near the Garden area. Restrooms are fairly decent.

Well maintained Dam and its associated garden makes it a good weekend destination. Plenty of trees and plants in the garden will give cool and pleasant natural air in the mid-day. A fantastic place to bring your kids.
