Poovar Lake Port Back waters - Tourist attraction in Thiruvananthapuram, Poovar - Thiruvananthapuram, India

Very nice activity in Poovar. We visited off-season and paid Rs 3200 for a motor boat. We easily spend around 2 hrs till sunset and very very happy. The golden sand beach is very clean and can spend enough time there. The mangrove forest is just 20 mins while you spend most of the time like regular boating. The floating restaurants are very very expensive and can be avoided.

It is very beautiful place, we enjoyed the boat ride very much, boat goes through the neyyar river and between mangrove trees and will reach the Golden sand beach, where we can see arabian sea one side and river one side. It will be beautiful to watch. And we can see elephant rock, floating cottages, floating resutarants in the middle of the river etc. Over all experience was very nice and they have charged Rs. 3000 for 2 hours ride, 1 hour to go and 1 hour for return. Amid the heat of everything we go through in a busy city life, if you wish to take a break in serenity and silence, then here is a place to visit, especially during week days, there wouldn't be much crowd, and the vast wild beach waves takes all our attention. However during weekends, it is pretty crowded and noisy. There is enough parking space outside and also has adequate cleanliness. Dining at the Old coffee house gives a nice sea side view while eating. Altogether such a beautiful place to spend the evenings!!!

Beautiful place to visit in Kerala. It's really very romantic and exciting. The boat ride through canals is worth it, but unfortunately no control of govt is there. only private parties are giving service and charging exceptionally high for time slots. You can Book your tickets online then you will get better deal. Try to go early morning or in evening.

Cost is literally high for two people Reason: as they say it includes 12 spots which is Rs.4500 but literally there are no such spots. what we saw was only backwaters with waterless mangrove forest and birdless sanctuary. The only enjoyable thing was the ride honestly. Kinda scam

This was one he'll of an experience. The backwaters have my heart now. It was pure bliss to have a chance to connect with nature in it's purest form. The flora and fauna would take you away from the chaos of city life. It was a 1.5 hour ride which had 10 kms of backwater boating, golden sand beach sight seeing, in lake refreshments were avialbale like pineapple, cucumber and tender coconut. I saw elephant rock and a mother Mary statue as well.

It was a weekend spent well. Had a quality time with my family taking stunning boat ride through the mangrove forest on the neyyar lake. Boating is definitely expensive but that's the rate throughout Poovar. I paid 4k for 2 .5 hrs of boating. Barely 20 mins stop at the beach which was closed due to the rough sea. The hawkers at the beach side are waiting to slaughter poor tourist with charges well over the MRP rates printed on many of the items. Spent like 400 rupees for tendor coconut, biscuits and packetted items.

The place was good. But at the beginning of the boat ride, they had set the expectations so high that i could not find it. One time watch for sure.

Poovar mangroves boat ride is an experience that one must enjoy !! Very nice highland and elephant rock !! We could not enter to get ourselves wet because of high tides in the beach !!
