Poonthottam Ayurvedasram - Hospital in Kulakkad - Palakkad, India

I went to this ashram with my wife on a friend's recommendation. I am somewhat agnostic when it comes to Ayurveda- in general I believe in holistic wellness, eating well and forming good habits that will benefit body and mind in the long term. However, I do not have enough knowledge about some of the treatments to make any judgements on whether they work or not. Overall, I was quite satisfied with my "light" version of the treatments here, which included oil massages and the application of some heated herbs to areas that were particularly sore. We stayed just 6 days, which is not sufficient time for the doctors to offer the more intense treatments. This was disappointing, and we will very likely go there for two or three weeks if we go back at some point. The staff is superb. From the main doctor/owner to the people who give the massages to the food and cleaning staff, everyone has a smile and gives incredibly positive energy. One of the assistant doctors was a little slow to respond when I caught a sore throat and cold, but except for that one instance, everyone was really caring and eager to help. The room is excellent. It is not a 5-star resort, so the furnishings and the bathroom etc. are somewhat basic. The beds are really comfortable, and the table in the veranda is a great place to relax or get work done while looking on to a scenic view. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is willing to put up with bland food. For us, the food was a relief from the spicy food available almost everywhere else in India. We discovered several new recipes and food items to include when cooking at home.

My 14 days of stay at Poonthottam Ayurvedasram was nothing short of bliss. The therapist and also the helper had done an excellent job in making me comfortable and easing me into the treatment which was indeed very new to me . The message gave both physical and mental relaxation thanks to them . The daily treatment was followed up by a short visit from either doctor Sruthi or Aishwarya or both of them , giving me much needed guidance and counsel all through the 14 days . The cleaning crew , Lekshmi chechi adds on to making the experience comforting and relaxing . All together I loved the experience and would recommend it to others in a heartbeat .

Such a peaceful place! The natural surroundings and the genuine hospitality of the people working here is complete bliss. Dr. Raveendranath sir is a gem of this place. I came here for my father's treatment. Hope he gets well soon.

Your well-being is taken very good care of and is looked after in a very personal manner by Dr. Ravi, the doctors, and the entire team, which is really pleasant and reassuring. Poonthottam ashram is the perfect place to heal yourself and to rejuvenate . Dr. Ravi and the doctors and all the staff take very good care and look after your well being in a very personal manner which is very comforting and reassuring. It was a beautiful time the one I spent in that little piece of paradaise in Kerala. The knowledge of the doctors on the different topics I wanted to treat myself, the ability to explain the whys and hows of the process and the different options for staying in the ashram make this an option feasible for a wide variety of people and budgets. The landscape is wonderful and the service worked as I expected. The food is simply amazing I must say. Thanks for all Poonthottam family!

Poonthottam Ayurvedashram is a very special place with a relaxing healing atmosphere, a lot of wonderful silence and natural beauty. I've been there twice for two weeks of treatment and both times loved my stay. Dr Ravi has tremendous expertise, intuition and is a very fine human being. I felt well looked after in all the ways: the treatments were given by skilled therapists, Dr Vivek checked daily on me, I enjoyed the simple, tasty food, the yoga sessions, and the loving care of all the staff. I'm deeply grateful to Dr Ravi and his staff for providing such great conditions for holistic healing.

A lil piece of heave is exactly how I would like to describe this place. I came here to get treated for low back ache with sciatica and I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of healing here. To begin with meeting Dr.Raveendran... haven't met someone who actually has all the patience to listen to every lil complaint and address each of them in a holistic approach. The treatment plan for the next 14days was given to me before hand. Coming to next ...the therapies that I underwent here were well explained by the therapist and the junior doctors who visited me everyday through my stay here. Special mention to Therapist Suma who addressed my everyday complaints of aches and insomnia and worked towards correcting it. Also Shilpa who made sure I have my medicines on time regularly. The cleanliness and the hygiene followed here in the room and the dinning hall is worth a mention. I don't think even some big hotels keep their rooms this clean on an everyday basis. The people who served me in the dinning area (shree devi and Geeta) always made me feel at home. Overall this place has not only healed me physically which I came here for but also mentally for the tranquility this place has. Thank you Poonthottam
