Indeed a pleasure staying here at poonthanam, it's 3 rd time and I am rejuvenated than ever, to experience North Kerala one must start from here and go northwards , it's river front and amidst an old Village vibe ,go cycling ,motorcycle tours and kayaking among mangroves ,prateesh arranges everything well, and they provide home cooked food.dont forget to watch theyyam performance in season ( oct - may )

Where do I start? The absolutely amazing location? The tastefully done home? The MINDBLOWING host Pratish? The yummy food cooked by the in house cook? We as a family of 6 booked the whole house (can accommodate even more) and we loved it. The perfect modern Kerala house vibe, the backwater is just the best thing to watch while sipping hot tea! Relax, or head out with the host for some good local shopping, food or adventure - he will cater to what u want! Adventure is his second name :) Wish I could stay there for a week - feel at home when u go there! Cheers!!

We stayed with family for 2 nights and had such a wonderful time. When we wanted to extend for another night, it was happily accepted. The home is well kept, clean and the food is simple, home cooked and tasty. We asked for a hike to be arranged and it was! We even watched a theyyam with transport facilities arranged. All in all, the host is easily approachable and we will surely come back again! Thanks!

A beautiful homestay amidst a scenic surrounding. Homestay is touched with exquisite wooden furniture. Very well maintained house. Had a splendid 2 night there. The host is also very friendly and kind.

Amazing location - right beside the river. Great place. Well kept and amazing food around. They even organised a bespoke hike for us. Was amazing. Swam the river, ate good food, hiked and watched traditional Kerala folklore. Excellent experience

Rejuvenation Hotspot!!! What a stay!!!!! The property and the host(Pratish) are just fabulous. We spent hours everyday on the huge covered sitout area adjoining the bedroom everyday soaking up all the warmth, peace, and serenity of the untouched backwaters. Coming to the backwaters, Pratish gave us lifejackets and we spent hours in the water everyday. Swimming against the current, and then floating back to our starting point was an experience that will be etched in my mind forever. There was absolutely no one in the backwaters barring a couple of canoes crossing the banks. The light pollution is minimal in the area. On clear nights the reflection of landscape in the water is nerve soothing. I also experienced a misty morning and it was beautiful. Pratish helped us shop in the local market and we got absolutely gorgeous local spices, coconut oil, and lip smacking chips. We had fun conversations. He is the perfect host. Food is so so, partly because I stayed properties with maybe better cooks. So to sum it up a must visit if you want to relax, experience the untouched backwaters, unwind, swim, and have great conversations.

A gorgeous homestay amidst serene surrounding. The place has been tastefully designed and the artful eye of the host is evident. The host, Preetesh is a very polite, accommodating and warm person who'll take utmost care of the guests. And the food was wholesome and delicious!

If you like to spend some quality time with your friends and family or you want to have your ME time at peaceful place, then you can consider Poonthanam Homestay. It's a beautiful and spacious home with river flowing at the backyards and surrounded by greenery on other sides. You will get to enjoy the authentic Kerala style dish. They have a sit out right next to the river and you can sit there and relax. You can do fishing and swim if you like to. It even has a balcony facing the river.
