A good try by a thoughtful officer. I admired the collection and the way it is kept in the small room. There is more room to make it elegant and attractive. Hope it will get improved more
It is a small museum with collection police related weapons and ammos. Helps to know about the police history of Pondicherry. It's free to enter here. So don't miss this place when you visit Pondicherry.
Has some old weapon collection. Interesting to see. Don't touch anything. They have a legendary sword, some muskets, revolvers, bullets, some anti riot grenades, current police headwears and a french officer uniform.
Police Museum in Dumas street in Pondicherry is one of a kind of Police Museum in India. It showcases the different uniforms and arms used by Pondicherry Police across the century. A nice place to spend some time here. Location: It is in the Dumas Street in the White Town area of the city. Easy to locate and anyone can help you to reach here. Timings: It is open from 10-1 in mornings and 2-6 in the evenings. And the entry is free. Display: Inside it there are uniforms worn by policemen across generations are displayed. Also caps and arms used during this period. Overall a small one room place which displays the history and uniform of the Pondicherry. Can be visited in quick time being really small. Do include it in your Pondi trip.
Visited this place in Feburary and first time in life I experienced warmth, hospitality and welcomeness in a goverment org. Very neatley maintained and organised. The antique collection of guns and ammunition is fantastic and unique. This is a small place and will not take more than 10 mins. Must visit. The entry is free. Footwear is not allowed inside the museum and it is completely fine given they the place is maintained. Photography is allowed.
Just a few pistols and bullets on display. Can do better with the display. The police force is of great credibility and needs better display of the credibility.
Free museum, one room, three cabinets and a wardrobe. The cabinets have got early and more recent guns that are no longer used, some gas canisters, rifles and bayonets. The wardrobe has Indo-French police hat-wear and a uniform. The guy running the show it very friendly and happy to answer questions. I wouldn't go out of my way, if you're passing by or done everything else. See photos for what you're missing. Entrance is not mobility friendly. Enter via women's police assistance section and go up the stairwell, it's on the left.
It's well maintained, and gives the glimpse of the artilleries used, their weapons, uniforms etc. It's very close to the Rock beach, French War Memorial.
