One more destination for locals who leave near this place other than Palguni hanging bridge... I take people who come to my place tp these two places.. i visit the Dam evening and from here we go to hanging bridge for sunset...
Beautiful feel good nature... It is the large dam consist of 53 gates Visit at monsoon for better experience Roads connecting to the dam at both the sides are at very bad condition.
Earlier it was a shut down dam with canals for irrigation. However, recently they constructed a very long vented dam which has 53 gates for restricting water flow. The first and last gate opens to irrigation canal. All the gates are operated manually by gear boxes connected with rope and pulley. Each gate is more than 6 meter wide and the total length of this vented dam is about 400 meter. Good place to enjoy surrounding nature. Must visit during mansoon. The last part of access road, about 500 meters is very bad, only two wheeler can reach with difficulties. Other than this, rest of the access road is in good condition.
Better to visit after monsoon. Only 2 wheeler will reach till the dam area. It's a small dam to make water flow in a way. Nice scenery around the dam.
A shut down dam. Nothing too great or exciting. Takes around 40mins to reach from Mangalore. Environment is calm but water was stagnant when we visited. Nothing like flowing river. Secluded area. Car does reach the spot but around 1km stretch is a mud road which isn't too good
Karpe dhota dam Road work is not done. This is very annoying to people. During the rainy season, the connection between the two towns is difficult due to the dirt road.
Good construction. There's large scope for development of road to connect bajpe and other places. Both side of roads can be upgrade
