Pezhumthuruth Railway Bridge - Bridge in Munroe Island - Kollam, India

In this place accident occurred at Peruman bridge over Ashtamudi Lake on 8 July 1988 at around 13:15 Hrs. Ten bogie carriages of the Train Number:26 Island Express, travelling from Bangalore to Thiruvananthapuram Central, derailed and fell into the lake.Of the 14 coaches, only the engine, the parcel van and a second class compartment had crossed the bridge when the derailment occurred.Two of the nine coaches that fell into the water turned upside down.

Awesome place with awesome nature view. Can get down at Munroe island railway station. Move 2 km towards Kollam(Quilon)

go under the bridge after 5pm it's beautiful there. If u go to the opposite side u could see more beautiful place, take the left from bridge and walk a little bit under the trees.

A good place and nature beauty spot. I am most visited place and my favourite place. I am visited weekly twice to enjoying the place. There have most cool and mind-blowing atmosphere.Munroe Island- Mitali or Mundrothuruthu is an inland island located at the confluence of Ashtamudi Lake and the Kallada River, The island village is a tourism destination where one can see the coir retting process, coir weaving, fishing, prawns feeding, migratory bird watch, narrow canals and waterways, coconut farms on the lake shore, lagoons, mangrove plants and the beautiful tiny islands of Pathupara. Kallada Boat Race, which is one of the famous boat races in Kerala, is at Karuvathrakadavu- Muthiraparambu nettayam in Munroethuruth.
