Vikatgad Fort, near Mumbai, provides a moderately difficult walk with beautiful views. The hike begins with a scenic path through lush flora that gradually intensifies as you ascend. With its stone structures, the fort itself, however in partial ruins, provides a look into past. The view from the top includes the Matheran range and Chowk town. The trek takes about 2-3 hours and is suited for both novice and experienced trekkers. The fort's simplicity and tranquillity make it a perfect destination for nature lovers. However, due to the treacherous walkways, vigilance is suggested during the monsoon season. Overall, Vikatgad Fort provides an enjoyable mix of history, adventure, and natural beauty.

Eye soothing view of nature and it's beauty!!! Peb trek is much underrated trek amongst the trekking options nearby. It contains many waterfalls and such scenic beautiful which can stunn everyone for a moment. Absolutely enjoyed the trek and nature. The way starts from neral station from where we have to take the cab for peb fort trek. The cabs leave us at start of the trek where the. Railway tracks start. The trail starts from these railway tracks and goes along the tracks. We can enjoy eye soothing beautiful views in the way. A point comes where we meet multiple shops near a bell on the metal railing. From there we have to descend to the valley which is thrilling. The trail then goes through this valley where the view is absolutely beautiful. Next we have to climb up our way on staircases and rock cut trail while enjoying the scenic beauty of Sahyadri mountain range. At last we reach the Peb fort and also must visit temple where there's always presence of clouds is there.

Peb fort (Vikatgad) is a Marvelous place for trekking, every one must trek one in a lifetime in monsoon times between June to September. There are lots of places to explore and kadavachi ganpati is the main attraction. You will find temples at every important points.. Only flaw we had found is, in foggy climate one cannot distinguish a right path for the top.... Otherwise each and every part is best. You can see monkeys, birds, crabs, etc... So if you're planning to go there, just Don't think a lot just Go... Important things to carry Raincoat 3 liters of water Food (you can't find food stalls on weekdays) Carry cash So keep traveller's, keep exploring...

Difficulty level: Medium Awesome weather, beautiful mountains, foggy clouds over mountains and greenery of nature is heaven to watch. Small fountains makes trekking more enjoyable. Best time for this trek is rainy season. We were a group of around 15-20 people, and there were 8-10 groups of trekkers. There is no source of drinking water so one should keep it with him/her as per the need. All the best.

Vikatgad Peb Fort is located on the Matheran Hill Range, about 2,100 feet above sea level. It is a popular trekking spot for those seeking an adventurous trail. It is continuous to other forts of the Matheran Hill Range along with Malang Gad, Tauli Hill, and Chanderi Fort. Being close to the major cities of Pune and Mumbai, with a well-connected railway system, attracts trekkers from both the cities, mostly on weekends. Not much is known about the fort, and most of it is in ruins due to a supposed battle that took place in the 19th century. However, it was a storage for food grains and ammunition and was also visited by the British Captain Dickinson in 1818. The two entrances to the fort are in ruins. There are still traces of the idols of Lord Hanuman within its periphery. The approximate time required to visit all the palaces in the fort is 1 hour.

Awesome one day trek with beautiful mesmerizing views. The place is a must visit in rainy season. If you are traveling to matheran then never miss this place..its 3-4 km from matheran railway station. U can Walk to trek start point from matheran station along side with the toy train track. U will find lot of small streams along the track, u will never get tired in the trek for sure because the view is so awesome. The actual trek might b little difficult at some places, u have to put little effort. But yeah it's definitely worth it. Cold chilled wind at the top and a small temple.. u can relax for some time there and enjoy the surrounding, the beautiful nature, the greenary, the mountains. Trust me .. u will love it.

Taste of everything.! Forest, rock patches, grasslands, exceptional views, valley glimpse! The path through forests are not properly marked , so be careful while going through dense forests. Make sure you apply mosquito repellent prior starting the trek and they are a probable nuisance there ! While starting make sure to follow the electric towers so that you are head correctly. At the top there is a temple. Monsoon is best time to take a glimpse the valleys beneath as the lush greenery will wow your wind completely. The endurance level needed is bit high . Go and come back with lush green memories.!

Very good to go in monsoon season. A medium difficulty trek, but a guide is needed if going first time. Few sections bit difficult but doable for first timers too, but in groups. We were a group of around 15 people and enjoyed it lot. We did it from Neral base, starts from Anandwadi village, and travelled till Matheran, which goes through the fort and then some part Neral - Matheran railway track till Matheran taxi stand. We took taxi downhill to finish. Make your own food & water arrangements, no availability on fort.
