For the first time, Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) will be hiring private architecture consultant to construct around 1,000 flats in Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (RGCPT) under the Habitat Project. Till now, only government's architect department were designing the flats for the board. The decision has been taken to compete with the private builders and come out with best flats. In 2015, Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) got 123 acres of land back from Parsvnath Developers. CHB will be constructing 1,000 flats on around 17 acres of land on two sites, which will include flats for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom flats. It will be 6 storey building with swimming pool and gymnasium in each block. The chairman of the board, Maninder Singh Bains, said, "We want to construct best flats with latest technology and have decided to hire private architectural consultant to compete with the private builders. We will finalise the architect within a month and after that, we will invite applications for the flats."
