Panner Selvam Park (Wells Park) - Park in Marapalam, Erode - Erode, India

This is kind of a landmark location in Erode city popular for decades. Though its name suggests a park, there isn't one as such. This location has become a junction of 5-6 roads, thus an important spot for the locals as well as visitors. An important spot also for the local weekly textile market that spreads out on the pavement. City buses provide a good connectivity and a number of hotels in the vicinity cater to the tourists. We stayed in one such hotel and explored this place on foot.

Panneer Selvam Park is shortly called as PS park and its heart of Erode city also a commercial and business locality,The major places like Periya Mariamman Temple,Library and Textile market located here. The place is always busy and rush, the PS park signal having 5 roads.

This location of PS Park is the landmark which is the Junction point of roads to various locations like Mani koondu, Railway station, Bus stand and GH etc. This park only having some leaders statues. This Junction point having lot of whole sale textile shops outlets and stationery items. During festival seasons this locations will covers festivals related purchasing shops. You can't miss Panner Selvam Park junction . if you are in Erode . You must either enter Erode through it or you should pass through it atleast once . It is at the intersection of five roads - Gandhji Road, Brough Road ( now rechristened as Meenakshi Sundaranar Road ), Cutchey Road , Manikoondu Road and Thiruvenkitasamy Street . Chinna Mariamman Koil , Easwarn Koil , Perumal Koil, CSI Brough memorial Church and another two churchs by name TELC Christian risen lord's church and St. Mary's church are there . Erode Taluk Office is just nearby . CSI Hospital and Educational institutions are nearby . A lot of nationalised banks like State Bank of India , Central Bank of India , Canara Bank , Union Bank of India , Indian Bank , Karur Vysya Bank , Axis Bank snd many other banks are there. Further more various Textile shops like Chennai Silks , SPP silks, Bharani Pattu Centre etc are there The place derived it's name because of a park known as Wells park later rechristened by LATE E.V. Ramasamy Naicker as Pannerselvam park in memmory of Justice Party leader Rao Bahadur A.T.Pannerselvam . But now the park does not exist there . A library to assist students aspiring to attend competitive examinations is now functioning from there . Statues of political leaders can be seen there . A busy wholesale cloth market by name Abdul Gani Market selling apparels is just nearby . District Head Quarters of Police and some courts do exist nearby . Gold and Silver selling shops like Kumaran , Jos Alukas . AVR and many more outlets are there . I WOULD HAVE LEFT MANYTHING UNMENTIONED, BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T COVER ALL THOSE THAT EXISTS THERE IN A SMALL REVIEW SUCH AS THIS ONE . COME AND SEE AND ENJOY IT FOR YOURSELF.

Good but not that big as it's located near road.... Small break or relaxation will be good I suppose..

Lot of shops with affordable prices. You can get below services here cloths, mobile repair, laptop repair, bycyles, bikes, cars, toys and much more... This is a market with lot of small shops. Festival times it will be very crowded. Parking is a problem here and you need to go for paid parking to safe side your car and bikes.
