I visited this Dam at the time of travelling Garhpanchkot, Purulia. Panchet Dam is the last of four multipupose dams include in the first phase of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). It was constructed across the Damodar River at Panchet in Dhanbad district in the state of Jharkhand. It was opened for public in 1959. It has been constructed a little above its confluence with the Barakar river. While Dhanbad district is on the northern bank of Panchet Dam reservoir, Purulia district is on the southern bank. Panchet Hill rises above the Panchet Dam. The sun set and sun rise view is wonderful from the upper road of the dam.
A nice destination for long drive , after crossing the panchet dam in a matter of few minutes one can have access to the jungles a quiet yet beautiful area surrounded by greenery. Also, if you are coming from any other state than West Bengal you'll be required a COVID test while entering panchet otherwise you might end up giving fine.
Wonderful place in one word. Must visit in monsoon.
