Pallikaranai Marshland Park - Park in Chennai - Chengalpattu, India

Closes by 6.30pm. Better be early. Excellent place to spend an evening with kids. Lot of space for kids to run, no swing/slide. It has a small pond with grassland by the side - makes it a wonderful place for walking. One can spot nice birds chirping around. Entry fee is 10rs per adult and free for kids as of sep 2023.

Well maintained marshland within Chennai City. Seasonal diversity of migratory Birds in this Wetland is unique. Best destination for more morning walk and joggers. Expansion of the park is expected in near future. Department of Environment and forest has done en excellent job here. More urban wetlands need to be protected all over the country.

An urban wetland within the developed Chennai Pallikaranai area. Declared as a Ramsar site, the park has a walkway used by folks taking their morning or evening walks. Good bird watching site (you can request the forest staff for a binocular or scope to view the aquatic birds). The park has a lot of scientific material displayed in the form of models, infographics and maps ideal for school and college students to learn about the local wildlife. A place worthh a visit if you are near Pallikaranai or passing through Velachery.

Well maintained but very less sitting option. No kids playing area. Only for walking and strolling.

Good place for evening walking and timepass.. Long pathway and small marshland waterbody is there.. Opens till 6PM only..But will be more commercialised soon .

During my first visit, I was quite impressed (I haven't yet thoroughly explored this location!). Would be a fantastic spot to begin and end your day with loved ones, friends, or simply by oneself, unwinding and taking in nature. A photographers' and birdwatchers' heaven, with many wide and long walking trails (the few narrow paths are at the back). There are many native trees with names listed, and there are seats and some shaded areas where people can relax and take in the scenery. 6:30am - 6pm Along the walls enclosing the park, vehicles may be parked outside. (at your own peril) Neither an entrance nor registration fee is required. Wishing for good upkeep and future improvements to this location.
