Palar Dam Palani - Tourist attraction in Periyammapatti - Dindigul, India

This dam is damn beautiful as it is located at the base of the Kodaikanal mountains. It's a must visit place for Nature/Mountain lovers and as it offers some stunning views of the gigantic mountains. Try to travel by your own vehicle, preferably in the morning or evening (before sunset) hours to enjoy the scenery around the place. Try exploring the entire dam area right from the Palaru end (left) puranthalaru and shanmuga river end (right). Carry water and edibles if you plan to spend more time and explore the long stretch of the dam area. If you are a photographer, then this place will definitely consume your memory card. Please do not litter, and follow eco-friendly practices. The dam park deserves better care & treatment by the Govt and so that it can attract more visitors (especially the kids).

This dam is located in the foothills of the Palani forest range. It is one of the main sources of irrigation for the surrounding villages. The dam is sorrounded by lush green paddy and sugarcane fields. A canal provides irrigation water to the nearby fields and ponds. There are a lot of birds to watch for while going along the canal. Parrots, peacocks and Kingfishers can be easily spotted.

Located in the magnificent Western ghats near Palani Hills.. One can reach there by road by car or tourist vehicle as no public transport ll reach there... Such a niece place.. and well built dam.. Which covers almost all irrigation for cultivation in Palani surrounding areas

Very quite place. Plan to visit early in the morning. Bathing is not allowed. Palar dam is 10Km from Palani.

Nice view and calm place without any disturbance

Secluded and very peaceful area. Greenery everywhere. Beautiful view of surrounding hills and dam water. Park has to be improved. There's an Anjaneya temple which can also be visited. Recommended for 1 day trip with family and children. But no refreshments or shops available there. Take water and refreshments. Though there are mini buses from Palani bus stand, suggest to travel by own vehicle.
