For going up hill is rs 50 / person. There is a queue outside where we need to wait for 1/2 hr to go to the ticket counter. Then after the ticket purchase you are sent to the waiting halls. First you are sent to Waiting room 1 --- waiting time 1.5 hrs. Then u will be sent to waiting room 2 --- waiting time 45 minutes here. Then again you will be sent to the final winch boarding room - waiting time 30 minutes. We have various stages to get on winch 1. Queue - initial stage to counter 2. Waiting room 1 3. Waiting room 2 4. Final boarding room Then winch travel time to up hill is just 6 minutes. Down hill charge rs 25/ person. I am sharing my experience in normal Thursday of week in June. My waiting time was 1.5 hrs totally to board on winch. But during festival season the waiting time is 3 hrs to get on the winch. So if you have kid kindly carry snack and water bottle for them. Devasthanam has to find the way to overcome the waiting time.

It was really an amazing ride on this, you should also try it because you don't want to walk all the way to temple and it's really convenient and for the safety of the passengers a guard always be with the winch cabin. It was a good experience for the kids and is safe as well. But the seating was very uncomfortable with small seats and capacity to the maximum filled in. If you get the window seat then it's great or else you will feel being in a jail. The price to go up is Rs 50 and downside it's Rs 25. Helpful for people with problems to climb the temple steps and it's nominal. However please be careful while boarding and departing the train as the gravity pulls you down. I hope it's government owned though... There are some great views towards the top but due to spacing issue becomes difficult to shoot. But the kids enjoyed it and me as well!!! I also spotted a peacock when I reached down!!! Hurrah!!! Har Haro Har Hara Murugan Swamy... Overall an enjoyable ride.

Now a days winch station maintenance is good. But wait time is increased. 2 types of tickets available 10rs and 50rs.

Super ride.. Its little bit slow.. 3 to 4 Compartments are there. Mostly crowdy.. 25rupees instant entry to one way.. you can avail it from winch station. 10rupee pass is also there. Above 5years ticket has to taken. After returning there is a udyan or garden.. we can see mayil(peacock ) the vahana of pazhani aandavan. Exit way is also nearby. Mahishasura mardini devi kovil also 2min walk.

Worst service, getting all those funds in their pocket, no proper facilities. Whenever I used to go all the time the rope car under maintenance, and the winch is operated only semi services, poor government.

Devotees who accompanying kids along with them must use this winch train option to make the kids feel an enjoyable and a memorable spiritual trip. Since only two winch route available, may be you get frustrated by waiting for more than a hour. But once you starts your travel on winch with your kids and by seeing their enjoyment definitely you will forget those moments.
