Historical place well maintained, not changed the originality of the palace. Display boards placed every were for route guide. Need to spend 1 - 2 hours to cover full palace. Only thing self explanatory boards will be use full to know the purpose of the place how it is used . Good experience must visit place to know how the king lived

Undoubtedly a city landmark with rich historical significance, especially appealing for those with an affinity for old architecture. However, if you're a local who has already explored the vintage homes of your grandparents, the experience might lack novelty. The real charm lies in the intricate woodwork of the stairs, corridors, and more, showcasing remarkable craftsmanship. Before planning your visit, be aware of a few nuances. There's an entry fee of Rs.50 for cars, and parking can be a hassle in the congested vicinity of the palace. Upon entering, brace yourself to part with Rs.5 for the mandatory removal of footwear, with UPI or cash payment. The entrance fee for Indian adults is Rs.40, and if you wish to capture memories through mobile photography, it's an extra Rs.20 per person, payable only in cash. Disappointingly, UPI or card payments are not accepted. Once inside, guards may approach, seemingly more concerned with verifying payments for mobile camera photography than enhancing your experience. Despite some reviews suggesting otherwise, I found the guides to be well informed and thorough in their explanations, contradicting claims that they fail to provide meaningful insights.

Historic Place. Nearly 400 years old. Considered the largest wooden palace in India made mainly of wood and granite. There is an entry fee of 35 for adults and 10 for children's.

One of the oldest and largest wooden palaces in India. The government has maintained the place really well. The guides here provide some good insights of the palace. The architecture of the palace is so amazing. It takes a minimum of 2 hours at least to complete the entire tour. There are certain sections of the palace which are inaccessible perhaps due to its ancientness. And there are some scribblings on the walls and pillars which spoils the architecture a bit. There are some paintings that have been kept for viewers which actually depict the culture and other aspects of the kings life during those days A must visit if are nearby. The palace is open to the public from 2.00PM and it's advisable that you reach 30 mins earlier to avoid the rush in availing entry tickets. The palace is located just around 20 km from Nagercoil and upon arrival you have to take tickets which cost 40 per adult and 20 for a mobile camera for Indian citizens and only cash is accepted here. They also provide lockers to keep your footwear since it is prohibited inside the palace.

One of the most beautiful and biggest wooden palace complexes you could visit India. The oldest building in this complex is about 400 years old and the youngest about 200 years...! This was the original capital of the Travancore Dynasty and this palace was their original palace before they shifted their capital and palaces to Trivandrum. It's a protected monument now under the Archaeological survey of Kerala.

The Palace is really big. The moment you enter till the end it has stories to tell. A very beautiful place with nature at its best all around!

Although sections of the palace are inaccessible due to its age, it remains a captivating glimpse into royal life. Ample parking space is available, with a roadside parking fee of 50 rupees.

This is one of my favourite places to go to so full of our history , But this time I was so disappointed 1, The guides just stand at random corners and say some random things no explanation given whatsoever . It would have been better if we kept plaques with the relevant information . 2 No maintenance at all creeps have carved their name everywhere the staff is least bothered this could have been avoided if they gave guided tours So sad to see such spaces getting ruined
