It's quite a historical place where the British have built a light House. From the coast of Karwar this island is visible. It takes around 40 min to reach by boat. This place has been littered by the locals who come here for camping, bottled paper plates, leftover food is thrown. This place has to be so clean & eco diversified. Must visit for a mind-blowing experience. Request the visitors to carry back the garbage which is littered by the locals to keep this place clean and tidy. They might charge 800 per head. Try to negotiate. Carry food, water, covers to get the garbage back.
The lighthouse can be reached through boats through Kali River end. It has amazing views and a nice atmosphere, has a calming effect because of cool winds. 360 views from the top of lighthouse, there are approx 4 fleet of stairs to reach the top. There is a renovation ongoing currently but is still accessible. There is a prism light on the top of tower which provides on/off light rays to the beach shore at night. There is a short trek to reach the lighthouse.
Theres a small mountain there you can hike up. A solid 40minute hike but the views are worth it. Take a lot of water. Theres also a spot just slightly ahead of the lighthouse where you can hunker down and chill but its so dirty with trash all around. Lots of glass bottles. The lighthouse itself is very nice. The view from the top is reallllly good and the lighthouse still operates completely analogue. Its amazing. Was constructed in late 1930s. The people there were also very chill, nice and friendly.
The visit was arranged by Prafulla boating center and the experience was Awesome. Since it was a weekday, there were none, except us in the place and the view from the top of the light house was memorable. Thanks to Prafulla boating center for a wonderful boat ride which included Oyster Island, visit to the Light house, Kali mata temple and dolphins watch.
You can catch a boat ride from Karwar Beach to come here. It's a pretty old, but well maintained structure. You can climb up to see the view which is pretty sweet. You can even see the coast of Goa from up there. Note that boat rides can be expensive so try to form a big group when visiting.

The Oyster Rock Lighthouse, also known as Devgad Island Lighthouse is located on Oyster Rock in Devgad Island, At a distance of 10km from karwar beach(Rabindranath Tagore Beach / Karwar port). It takes around 45 mins to reach the Island from Rabindranath Tagore Beach with the help of Machine Boats. Trip to Oyster Island is invaluable experience and If lucky you can spot a few dolphins too. Lighthouse on the this Island have many iconic views, behind the lighthouse there is a beautiful beach which boasts of sanctity and serenity. Best season to visit is winter, that lasts from October to February. It's a must visit place.
