OYO Southern Hotel Near Chennai International Airport - Hotel in Chennai - Coromandel, India

This place used to be really good with some of the nicest staff anyone can ask for. Well that was two years ago, now a lot of its glory points have been watered down in an attempt to garner more profits it seems. The location of the hotel is its best selling point. Its available at a stones throw from the airport which is great. The issue is its staff is undertrained. By the way, I can recognise when something is being said in an attempt to patronize me. If you seem like a north Indian or anyone too unacquainted with the language, snickers and remarks would be common. Also attempts to explain to you in watered down Hindi when its not welcome. Too bad for them I speak the local language as well. The food is substandard for a three star hotel honestly, and the wait staff barely come over to you. The menu is for namesake and merely exists to inform you that the hotel has a menu. I am not sure whether I caught the hotel in a bad time, in changes of reorganization or change but i must summarize the overall experience of my stay there as a disappointment from my previous visits there. The location though still remains a great point about it.

In this hotel not cleaning after every guest. You can find dirty bad sheets with hair and it will be covered like new bad sheets. housekeeper does it all the time as a normal routine. I had dirty bad sheets, key was not working, and nobody change the key till I came down and ask many times again and again. After that they changed room and put a clean bad sheets special for me. But my friend who stayed in another room had the same problem with bad, and even towels were dirty and wet and neatly folded. If you don't have options to stay, check everything in the room first, better never come here, because are people are there don't care about guest.

Pros: 1. Near the Airport. Although not walkable if you have any trolley bag. P. S.: Take a local Auto for INR 50. 2. Room : Small but clean. For the price, I paid it is okay. I had a good sleep and the bed was good. 3. Facility: Down they have a large restaurant but South Indian Chettinad Food. Hence order food from Swiggy. Cons 1. Wi-Fi: Didn't work due to some technical glitch 2. Washroom: Shower area is too small. It will be difficult for any healthy person 3. Dustbin was Unclean. Sugar Sache was open and unchanged 4. In the modern age of key cards, it had a physical key to open room If u need to stay near the Airport, Budget Constraints and Business travel (just sleep and leave morning), then go for it.

The convenience of this hotel is unparalleled. A stone's throw from the airport and a short walk from the train station. Where its location seems to be its crowning jewel this has somehow enabled the hotel to heavily forego any commitment to quality. The staff were very friendly and happy to help us out however problems arose in our rooms. Firstly the quality of the towels was dismal. My towels still had some red coloured marks on them and brown stains on the side. I can only wonder why occupants would receive towels in that state. If they aren't sanitary at least make them LOOK sanitary for our sake. After the first night I was moved to another room due to the Air conditioning giving out in my room. I found this out by trying to enter my room after a long night and to my surprise my card being deactivated. A simple message on the door asking me to call the help desk might have sufficed rather than going to the concierge desk and being told I need to pack up my stuff to be moved to another room. In the second room I noticed two things: the aircon was on but the panel on the wall wouldn't allow me to change the temperature. Also there were none of those lovely towels available in the bathroom. I had asked for help in rectifying the situation but the genuinely friendly man that came couldn't fix the air con. I had hoped he would bring towels at least but that didn't happen. I waited 20 mins in my room but still nothing. I went out for an hour or so and came back but still no towel and no fixed air con. I had resigned to the air con not going to be fixed but a simple towel would have been great. I had asked the concierge at the time and he finally organised it. Success! Or so I thought... Until I came to have a shower and realised that there was NO hot water in my room. I couldn't be bothered being a nuisance to the staff any longer and just wanted to go to bed so I resigned to having a cold shower. I was leaving the next day anyway. I take no delight in authoring a bad review nor do I make this a regular habit (this being my first review of a hotel actually) however my stay there for the last 2 nights left me compelled to provide an honest review. Read this as less of a complaint and more of a desire to see this hotel reach its full (and very real) potential.

All so good. Free drop to airport. Restaurant need to improve. More than half of menu items are not available.

Good budget hotel near Airport Good clean ,well maintained place,Staffs are friendly,well mannered.Food is good,tasty.

Opp to Airport. 3 Star Hotel. Neat and clean. Room service is best. Satisfied.
