OYO Diana Hotel - Hotel in Manipal, Udupi - Udupi, India

I heard a lot about this food joint especially for it's Ice cream and cutlet. I was disappointed on both fronts. Cutlet was not at all delicious if I compared it with Ideals cafe Mangalore. Gudbud ice cream is my weakness this too was a disappointment in this joint. Lot's of hype but not worth the experience.

A budget hotel for short stay in Udupi. If you are visiting Udupi matta then its walkable to this hotel. The location is prime and its near to the highway too. The rooms are quite clean and well maintained. The room has all the amentities like fan, TV ,air conditioner and free wifi. Also the rooms are well light up and ventilated. The reception service is little inconsistent as some of the calls are not answered. All the complimentary from one litre of water, dental kit, Comb and fresh towels are provided. The food service is available for breakfast and the evening snacks. However the in house restaurant is only open from 8.30 AM to 1 PM and then from 3.30 PM to 9.30 PM. So Lunch is not available and it needs to ordered from outside. This is biggest shortcoming. There is no laundry service. So overall its an average hotel and it could have been better if the reception ,lunch and laundry service were available.

We had a horrendous experience in this hotel. Extremely unkempt with absolutely no housekeeping and sanitization. The rooms were very musty and linen was not changed at all. There is no one to take responsibility and it looks like this hotel is living off its past glory. My wife had severe allergy and had to be hospitalised. This is a completely avoidable hotel. The authorities must do regular monitoring of hotels to ensure basic hygiene. Stay here at your own risk.

This review is for the restaurant Diana. This hoods nostalgic value to me as 8 have had lot of good times here as a kid. My fav dish was the poori kurma which tatsed heavenly. Also chana bhatura and dahi vada, vegetable cutlet were fantastic back in the days. Unfortunately the food does not taste as good as it used to earlier. But I keep going back once in a while for a piece of nostalgia.

The food is good. Not spicy but just enough to enjoy it. A place where you have to wait for a table.Popular in Udupi. Try the Poori Channa Masala here, it is unique and different in taste from others. Other foods are also equally good in taste but not spicy enough. Desserts and Shakes are pretty good. A good place to eat in peace and to enjoy your food in good time.

Went to this place after hearing great reviews about icecreams. A very average place I must say... only fruits are stuffed in gadbad. Something called Sunday queen had very bad tasting chocolate sauce.... even food options are very very limited. Nothing compared to Pabba's

This place used to be so great. Back in the day we used to head to Diana (former place) just for the gadbad and the experience there (the spiral ramp to the first floor). It's changed a lot. Even the gadbad doesn't taste as good as it used to. My most recent experience was kinda bad. I had ordered a cutlet which tasted like it was stale and even had the stale smell. And when I called the waiter and informed him, he immediately jumped on the defense wagon and told me this was the first time EVER they received a complaint about their cutlet! (He said it in a nice way though). I asked him to smell the cutlet and he didn't get the stale smell and even the chef apparently said it's good (Ofcourse they would say what they prepared is good). anyway I returned it and they didn't charge me for it. But still, Diana having such a great reputation seems to be just letting all our old memories down.

Was not a pleasant experience. The reception is unattended most of the time. The room service and reception numbers are mentioned on the intercom in the room, but no one answers. You can get room service... morning tea only after 8:30am. Naivedya, a nearby restaurant is a good option for your early breakfast. Once you have checked in, you are on your own... as room service is almost non existing. No complaints about the room. Room was super clean, they provided toothbrush/toothpaste, bath soap, shampoo, comb and a shaving kit too. Diana also has a convenience shop just next to the reception on the ground floor.
