OYO 48541 Payel Guest House - Hotel in Santiniketan - Birbhum, India

This oyo hotel exceeds expectations. While booking I had doubts about the place cause the reviews were not too good. But the staffs here are amazing. They never say no to any request. I visited Shantiniketan cause it was my mother's birthday & I requested them to bring a cake. Even though cake shop was far away they delivered an awesome cake to me on time. Positive : amazing hospitality,they serve so varied dishes of food even though the place is in the interior of shantiniketan. The food quality & quantity is great,all fresh food served. Non-greasy or oily,perfect for aging people or kids. Ac works fine. Rooms are spacious. Good for kids to play. They accept card payments. Good place for both couples or family. Peaceful & a great place for weekend gateaways. Cons : its not their fault,there was a sign board but got washed away in the floods, so its little difficult to locate the place. The roads are little bad on the way to the hotel else everything is too good.

We went to this hotel after oyo transferred our stay from ranga mati garden resort at the last moment. Before booking any hotel in Shantiniketan via oyo or online, first confirm with the hotel. Oyo sucks big time. This place is great especially the hospitality shown by the manager. The food here is great, better than ram shyam anyday. Only downside is the narrow road that leads to this place. It's muddy and toto rides through it is scary. Although they are gonna change the road after this year's durga puja. The place is still developing, though rooms are large and well maintained.

The location is horrible! It's 7.2 km away from the railway station, which would still be acceptable but after the shibtala mandir, the roads are narrow and it passes through a field. It was impossible for any vehicle to reach the hotel and you will have to walk 0.8 km in a road that's muddy and slippery and not safe! It's basically not even a road it's just a path in between a field to reach the hotel. Major inconvenience!! The toto took Rs 300 to reach the hotel from the railway station! All the tourist place nearby is at least 5-6 km from the hotel and you will not get any conveyance. Need to walk 0.8 km till the main road to get totos! Walking in the road is not safe even in day; at night it becomes dangerous! No one should take that risk. Disappointed because paid Rs 2714 for such horrible experience.

It was a pleasant and comfortable stay , enjoyed our stay very much ,all staff are friendly , except the experience I had with the chef ,who was teaching me to make chicken oil dry , which is not at all a dish name . But he was continuously arguing with me , As simple the chef dosent know anything, being a hotelier and ex Food and beverage manager of Holiday inn Group , I presently owning 5 Restaurant and H otels.and Hotel Management College, I can certify this , Rest all staff are very good and humble,well definitely visit again.

Even though the place is under construction, there are a few points for which I'm giving it a 5-star.. - Located in a very serene and calm place amidst a village. - The staff guys are extremely helpful, kind and polite. They take care of each and every need of yours. - The places to visit in Shantiniketan are nearby (3-4kms, max 7kms). - The resort itself is beautiful and huge and is located in the backwaters of Kopai River.

Really nice hotel to stay but the road is through a village path which is in really bad condition but the atmosphere is really refreshing you will be able to enjoy the village atmosphere totally different from daily city life...the behavior of the manager and the staff is really nice the rooms are clean with hygienic bathroom, the food is really awesome just homemade food but you must be inside hotel by 6:30 after that is sometime boring ( I went there during winter) but really awesome stay and totally satisfied....

The hotel might be 5 star rating but not at the moment, might be after 1-2 years. I have no question about hotel facility, rooms, food quality. Only negative point is location of hotel. No road available to reach the hotel. Last 0.5-1 km you have to drive on a muddy land between two adjacent agricultural land which is hardly 4-5 ft. and totally uneven. You have to remember the name of God during drive/travel from that road. All the guest of that hotel including me complained that OYO authority change their booking from another hotel to that hotel at very short time notice. So be careful from that bad incident. Otherwise the hotel is very good. Foods are very very fresh and homely. They have own pond, farm for fish, egg, chicken, mutton etc. Manager Sudip is very helpful. They can arrange Toto for local sightseeing.

The hotel was pretty good but the locks were loose and when got my plate for eating dinner was dirty but the rooms,bathroom etc were cleaned and beautiful. so for some my reasons I would like give 4 stars.
