OYO 3772 Mahatta Home Stay - Hotel in Srinagar - Srinagar, India

This is a beautiful property located at a very prime location. Rooms have wonderful decor and are maintained quite well.The garden view from the room is cherry on the cake. Also, they provide really good food at reasonable prices. Staff is efficient and helpful. Special mention to the delicious cake baked by Mrs.Mehta. The way she manages the homestay is commendable. Please do not expect hotel like services here. It feels more like home. I have stayed in many home-stays and this is closest to a perfect one. Certainly the best place in Srinagar that you can stay at if you prefer home-stays over hotels. Would love to visit again!

Lovely home stay in Srinagar. Looked straight out of an English fairy tale. Good food. The best part is the lovely garden that makes for a great hangout with family and friends. The place also has a small merry-go-round for little kids, which was useful for my toddler. I met a family that was celebrating the 50th anniversary of a senior couple amongst them. Highly recommended place, esp. for family or large group.

I must say this is the best place to stay in Srinagar. You'll fall in love with this property the minute you enter. It's filled with different varieties of flowers all throughout the property and the rooms are very well maintained. You would want to stay in the lawn looking at the flowers and birds for hours. It's a very peaceful stay. I must also say the food there is very delicious. During my entire trip in Kashmir it's only in Mahatta that I had delicious food.

I'm writing this review while staying here at Mahatta Home stay and have booked 2 rooms from 20th June 2023 to 23rd June 2023. Reasons for writing this review: 1. We had to open the main gate each time because the staffs are nowhere to be found. 2. There's no reception, welcoming nor any document verification. 3. Even Mrs. Mehta never came once to ensure that their guests are comfortable and we'll settled. Surprisingly she stays just few steps away. 4. Food isn't the best either. Also you cannot request for anything else. (My parents who are senior citizens requested for Indian breakfast options). 5. We asked them to change the towels which too was denied. We booked this place looking at the pictures and reading people's reviews. However, I'm so disappointed with there service! The property is beautiful from the outside but the service is equally bad. I've lived in many home stays across India and haven't seen one like this which has no hospitality.

Disappointed with service ! Otherwise okay. We spent 1 night there. 1. Location - it's at prime location. U can easily get auto to lal chowk or market area even around late at night. 2. Service - We were disappointed with the service and behaviour of the staff and even the owner. Imagine, u locked ur door, went outside. At ur back, they enter ur room and pick their items like, kettle, glasses etc. But, this is a serious security concern for us. We raised the owner, she didn't know how to talk to customers. She was talking so rudely. Disappointed ! 3. The rooms were spacious and airy. However, the washroom window opens in a passage, so someone can hear it easily inside the room. 4. Breakfast - only veg option. Not many options. 5. Garden - Awesome for pics.

One of the very good homestays in Srinagar to stay (IF THEY READ MORE ABOUT HOSPITALITY). Heads up - Long review post coming up. We stayed in this homestay for a night from 22nd-23rd June and we had two of our rooms booked with them. 1. Location - Prime location. Main road is just a few meters away and one can easily get the autos/battery rickshaws, even late night by 9-10 PM. Very close to main attractions too - Lal Bazar and Zero bridge. 2. Food - We availed only breakfast. They serve pure veg food. Breakfast buffet options - Idli, Sambhar, maggi, bread and tea - quite few, average taste. 3. Rooms - Spacious and airy rooms. Really large, felt like living in royal deluxe Kashmiri style room. There was a ceiling fan in the room, which is very hard to find in Kashmir. Though AC was much needed since weather was extremely hot in Srinagar (almost 34-35 deg in the day) 4. Ambience - Lovely garden area with sitting area, clicked lot of beautiful pictures there. 5. Washroom - Washrooms were fine with all the toiletries available, but their windows open up in the passage and anyone walking in the passage can hear someone talking near the washroom. 6. Service and hospitality - With all the good points mentioned above, if the service and hospitality isn't good enough that really makes the whole vacation go bad. While we went out in the early morning hours to Dal Lake for Shikara (which by the way, homestay staff member - Prem - helped us in booking the auto at that hour), the staff entered our room without taking permission from us and took out the water glass, coffee cups and kettle because Owner madam asked them. When we called Ms. Mehta regarding this, she talked on call very ignorantly and said - "Haan mera staff aaya tha, aapka samaan nahi liya na! Apna samaan lene ke liye aaye the because aapka aaj checkout hai. Aur aap room mein nahi the so hum andar gaye aur le aaye, aapka samaan to chori nahi hua na? Ho gayi galti, what do you want now - main ab haath jodh ke maafi maangu aapse?" These were her exact words. I mean. It's not just us. She took out every room's belongings who were checking out that day and their excuse was they needed all those kettles, cups and glasses for breakfast, ALL OF THEM. They might have thought we will take away those things too at checkout. Other guests were also talking about the same with the owner. More than the act, their reasoning and reactions annoyed us and spoiled our mood. Despite being so close to being a perfect homestay, they are way too far behind because of their hospitality. Hope they understand that these little things really matter, specially to the tourists traveling to Kashmir for the first time!

Oh my god ! This is a beautiful property in Rajbagh srinagar. And I am totally in love with it . The beautiful garden , the comfy room, the building type , food they serve everything is so good .. this property locates in a very nice area.

One of the best places to stay in Srinagar. My family loved it during our two days stay there. Mrs Mahata is very welcoming. The place is more like a hotel than what we usually think of a honestay. Staff is excellent
