OYO 15562 AAR Palmyra Regency - Featured Reviews (233)
The room was average and the interiors were old. The bed sheets were stained and not washed properly. Restroom was clean but there was no hot water available. Though they claim to have only Air Conditioned rooms the A/C was never found to be working in my room. There is no lift available at this property and the only option we have is to make use of the stairs every time. Hospitality is not good and the staff attitude was like we should be grateful to them for letting us stay at their place. After noticing all this I never even attempted to use their room service to avoid further disappointment. They enforce strict 12-12 check-in check-out policy. The location is good but they don't have dedicated parking space for cars. Suitable for backpackers, solo travelers if you can spare some extra bucks avoid this place.
The hotel is pretty terrible. Room was full of mosquitoes, with windows kept open when we entered the place. Outside the window is a garbage-filled plot that's a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Bed was made of many pieces, and covered by a dirty sheet. No blankets. One towel. Bathroom doesn't have hot water, doesn't have any toiletries, and doesn't drain well.
Overall, terrible experience - if you are looking to save money, beware what you're losing in return.
No hot water
No cleanliness
Dust everywhere
AC working good
This is a fabulous place from inside with great interiors. The staircase is narrow but comfortable and they do not have a lift or elevator. The entrance is a long narrow lane which is very high quality with ample lighting. The staff is well-educated cool and cooperative. The hotel is clean and hygienic. The rooms are spacious with all amenities.

Had to give 1/5 as 0/5 was not possible. Had booked through OYO. When we reached the hotel they said that they will not provide rooms if booked through OYO as they are overbooked. Though we made a booking a week ahead of our stay neither OYO nor the hotel people informed us about rooms not being available ahead of time. OYO did not care to even make alternate arrangements. They gave an option of a less quality room at Kotayam where as we had to stay at Alleppey.
We stayed at the Palmyra Alappy from 07 th November and I arranged a surprise birthday party at the time of check in for my fiance who has anaware of the arrangements till the last minute.I have specified the occasion while booking with Mr.Shahid (from front office)When we enter our room in about an hour we were in for a wonderful surprise as Shahid had arranged for our room to be decorated with a birthday wish.
The proffesionalism of the staff through out our stay was nothing short of excellent and a special thanks goes to Shahid ( from Front Office), Jalal(housekeeping) who really look after our every need through out our stay
.And i thanks to Mr.Nizam(Hotel Manger). You are the one who lead the entire thing for the grand celebration and his team for making it a memorable birthday.
If anyone is planning to visiting the Alappy then they should consider staying at the Palmyra hotel were the accomodation is affordable , newly refurnished ,comfirtable and homemaid service excellent. We recommend this hotel highly..
Thank you once again.
This feedback is not about the hotel but about the houseboat owned and operated by them:
- The boat operator initially called and informed us that he'll take care of our pickup and drop to the boat from the bus depot in Alleppey but we had to end up using and paying for autos. It's not a big deal but he could have just informed us rather than making false commitments.
- The operator hyped a lot about the boat and it's amenities however the actual product wasn't that great, the boat was not very clean and hygienic as expected.
- The food overall was average, I have been in Kerala long enough to know the cuisine and judge it, everything was very spicy and loaded with black peppers. Even after telling them to lower down the spice for dinner, it was even more spicier and chicken was overcooked. I have been on houseboats before and I know what quality of food to expect but this was below average.
- I was told by the operator that the TV on board has a dish connection however the boat captain bluntly denied it and said he was not carrying the pen drive either. When I called the boat operator to complain I was given another false promise and a lie that there is a technical fault with the TV however in reality there was no dish connection on the boat and the TV was working fine.
- The boat operators are well aware of the fact that the places where they dock in the evening are marshy waters and hence are infested with mosquitos still there was no provision of mosquito repellent available on board. I saw another economy boat next to us which had nice mosquito nets and some were using mosquito coils as well but our crew bluntly denied availability of either, finally I had to walk a few kms into a village to get it myself.
- The boat operator told us that the beach and local market would be within 3 kms from the place where they were going to dock however it was actually 8 kms away and we were in the middle of the village with nowhere to go and nobody to guide us.
- The boat captain was engaged in phone calls and watching movies on his phone throughout even while sailing the boat and didn't engage with us at all even though he was well versed in English. Any queries raised by us were just answered in nods. I have experienced houseboats earlier in Kerala many times and the crew is exceptionally hospitable and engaging and eager to share their knowledge about the local area and culture. I don't blame the cook because he wasn't very well versed in neither English or Hindi and was constantly engaged in his job. Even though he couldn't converse with us, he tried his best to show us a few local things here and there and was always warm and smiling.
All in all, it wasn't a great experience for me at all and shall not be cherished ever.
I wish there was a lower rating than 1 star!
There are giving only timing of 12AM to 11PM which is unusual comparing with others & would suit for People's who just wants to sleep & refresh & check out.
All others including room, services, designs were all good & is having solar water heater which provides 24hrs of hot water.
