OYO 10831 Balaji Guest House - Hotel in Shillong - East Khasi Hills, India

One of the budget friendly hotel in this area. We liked the hotel very much. Starting from a follow up call on the day of arrival to helping in every things, they were brilliant. The rooms are quite large and clean. The manager was one of the best person I have ever met. Finally last but not the least. They do provide food on demand and the taste, quality, and quantity of food was perfect. Like all the other things we enjoyed the food a lot.

Good service overall at reasonable prices. General rooms have tvs (which you have to recharge yourself) and toilets are clean. The nightmare only happens in the dorms as of the owners are trying to make a statement- dirty, torn rugged blankets, unlockable toilet, etc. No dedicated parking but hotel is very close to the main hub. There's a restaurant attached. No view from anywhere.

The worst stay ever...!! When me and my friend went there for enquiring about the guest house, the owner starting questioning about many things. I thought he was concerned because we are two girls travelling without any male with us. After seeing the room, we made the payment and went out. While leaving there, he asked 'Are you Christian?' and I told 'No. I am a Muslim'. I don't know why he want to know our religion. A 5 minutes after we stepped out from the guest house, I got a call from him saying that the room is given to someone else and there is no other vacant room in their guest house and returned the amount we paid. I am still confused why he did so. I don't know what is the actual problem of Mr. Alok Battacharjee..!! Is it my religion or is it my gender..?? Dated - 30 May 2023

Nice stay and very comfortable stay it help so much and friendly staff

The place is too much high priced just because it's near the main market of Shillong. Do not fall for this place. Rooms are not up to the mark. Our room door didn't worked properly, the bathroom door had a broken latch inside, sheets weren't tidy.

We were stay there for three days. Room is average. No bolcony, breakfast and dinner are worst.. Total waste of money. No parking place, Emergency light not available. No hanger in room. Rooms are at second floor. So please be aware before book the room. Rs 800/- to - 1000/- per day is sufficient for it.

Hotel rooms, staff behaviour, cleanliness, and hospitality were upto the mark. Staff's were polite and well mannered. Interiors of room are good too. Few things to share, just for information, this hotel doesn't allow smoking and drinking. So you may face a little crisis, if you are into smoking and drinking.. The hotel doesn't have a in-house restaurant, they bring it from a nearby restaurant. And this restaurant doesn't make good food. We found very high salt levels in the preparations, normal dal(lentils) and currys etc. Though its not a problem of the hotel, but I think they can change the restaurant or should ask to improve the quality of the food. The hotel gave us a deluxe room, that had a double size bed and sofa sets with television. A very neatly presented and decorated, but the main door had a problem, I mean the door was not fully lined with the floor surface, it had a three inch space between the floor surface and door. I noticed, every room had normal door installations this one different. I inquired this to one staff, he replied politely, that it was for ventilation(which I doubted). But it didn't made much problem, we used our trolleys to cover the door and sealed it.. Overall we had a very pleasant experience. We also took a room heater that helped to stayed warm in the 6 degree centigrade temperature. They also have a garage, on our trip we hired a scooty, and the manager allowed us to park the scooty inside, which was a great help. PS: OYO provides washroom kits to every bookings, so I recommend to book this hotel with OYO.

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. We booked 2 rooms but they gave an alternate room for the first night. The rooms were decent and moderately clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. They accommodated all our requests in timely fashion. Food was average. Good enough to full your stomach. Rooms does not have Wi-Fi as claimed on Oyo website. I know ac is not required but that also doesn't exist as claimed on Oyo website. Parking is limited and the rest park on the road. Overall average experience and the room did the job for the stay.
