We had our lunch there and enjoyed boating experience , with senior citizens above age 65. We ordered our food and went on to experience boating...when we return,Food was ready... Awesome.
I must say, don't fall into the trap of drivers recommendation and other hearsay...Just book ur boating plan with OTDC. They have the largest boat with YAMAHA motor, very silent , efficient and safe...& stable .
Food there was pretty good, very homely preparation, tasty and service is good...only thing is you order beforehand and allow them time to cook... Service is satisfactory and you can order anything you want to have, but beforehand.
Nice location, but firstly I didn't expect that there wouldn't be electric kettles in the rooms. Restaurant should improve the taste of food and use less oil. Rest all was good. You can find an area for kids to play and enjoy. There is a slide, a seesaw, a swing as well as a kitchen garden. And I guess they use their own grown vegetables.
One of the best OTDC. I had a great time here as a solo girl traveler. Rooms are big and beautiful with great view of Chilika lake from the balcony. So many trees and flowering plants beautify the property. Boating point is just nearby. All the staffs are very helpful. They take great care of their guests. Being a solo woman traveler in a remote village, not for a moment i felt unsafe here in otdc. One night i got late in ordering food and yet they took my order. There's no facility of room service but they served the dinner to me in the room because the restaurant got closed.
I have not stayed but had my lunch during chilika visit. I suggest instead of ordering thali one can order plate basis if in a group, that will be cheaper. Food is good and tasty too.
Goverment should get out if this sector asap. The upkeep is atrocious. The washrooms are truly disastrous and a challenge to use. I doubt if someone uses the rooms here. The food served was reasonable but seeing the general state of the property was concerned about hygiene. The lawns and outdoors are in total disarray.
We were in a group of 15, we had booked the boat and food 1 day before so that there won't be any hassle. The service, location and food quality was good.
Property is in good location with spacious parking facility, beautiful view of the lake from balcony. Rooms are in good condition, well maintained, but outdoor of the complex can be improved. Ac restaurant is there , food is average,u must try khainga fish, food is little bit pricey. Staffs are nice and cooperative. U must visit between nov-jan for night stay...off seasons are not recommended for stay as it's a small place and comparatively boring. They provide boating facility ,but u can get cheap options outside.
Faced a bitter experience. Went for lunch only. 1. Dishes are little bit broken and dirty 2. Not reasonable price 3. Only Cash payment 4. Dinning room AC not working in summer and most of the fan position and speed terribly slow. Also faced that plug points in not working condition. 5. Normal and Cold Water dispenser machine conditions very poor.. Feel that servicing done long days ago. Unhygienic.
Good museum with a detailed history about Chilka Lake (it's a Lagoon BTW). Explained models of laye restoration and conversion was shown here and you can find the preserved bodies of all the species found in the lake. The preservation room is a bit s
