Had a wonderful stay at one of the cottages. The location is perfect, not too close to the crowded town neither too far to miss out on basic availabilities. The balcony gives you an amazing view of the town on one side and the enchanting view of the lesser Himalayas on the other. The host and the staff are very cordial and are ever ready to cater to your wishes be it arrangements for a celebration or trying out local cuisines. Highly recommend for families. Looking forward to our next family trip to the same place.
The location was very good with scenic view. Not recommended to take kids upto 5 years as it can be risky. Food was homely cooked and tasty as well though snacks were unreasonably expensive. Lacked few basic amenities and there were so many insects all over. Overall the stay was good and owner and caretaker were also very good.
On of the best place and property I have seen in Ranikhet, the view from the balcony is such an awesome view in short I can just say the beauty of this place can not be expressed in words one must come here and have great experience and a beautiful and unforgetable trip and time u spend here. Now let's talk about the staff Gopal ji is such a nice and most polite person I have meet in my complete uttrakhand trip of 15 days, in all thes days food made by him was perhaps the best food I have eaten. Such an amazing person
and most important such an amazing cook I bet u will definitely feel like u are having food at your home.
Now most important owner of the property Ashok sir he is such an humble person and caring person he takes care of every guest personally and he is always in touch with the guest, he never let u feel as a guest infact he treats everyone as a family member thos who stay here. Happiness, comfort, and a complete home feel for the guest is most important for him even more then money.
So at end I will just say pleas do visit once, if Mussoorie is know as queen of mountains then definitely Open View Estate is king of Cottages.
The experience of our stay was beautiful and comfortable. The cottages are cozy and nicely done up. The owner Mr. Ashok Mehrotra was a great host and took care of all our request. The location is peaceful and mesmerizing. A perfect summer destination. Will definitely recommend.
Amazing place. Nice panoramic view from the property. Good homely food. Had an amazing time here.
Ashok uncle made sure we have a great time here. Definitely recommend this place.
Pros-:
Good staff behaviour and clean rooms.
Cons-:
Not at all cost effective. Very Money minded owner (Mr. Ashok Mehrotra) who does not permanently reside over there so the owner look it as a money making machine rather service providing facility.
The food is heavily over priced 4pieces of chicken will cost you Rs.330 and 1 chapati is Rs15 and the chapati is very lite so 1 adult can easily consume 4-6 chapati.
We asked the caretaker to bring and cook 1 whole chicken for 4 people the cost of cooking 1.5 kg(1 whole chicken) was 750 that is 500 per kg this is only the cooking cost apart from what you pay for chicken itself.
The loaction was good but then the ranikhet is now heavily urbanised its like living in a city among the crowd. you are on a vacation why would you pay Rs.4000 per room per night to live in a city. additionally you cant leave the premises after 7:00 pm because as the villagers said its awfully close to the wildlife so its not safe to roam in the dark.
Geysers were not working properly and the water ran out.
Heater they provided was also not working.
We asked for kettle at 1:00 pm and got it at 6:30 pm(Because they make money by providing hot water too). The kitchen is available inside the cottage but is not in usable condition so the food comes from 100 metres away and in 5-6 degrees the food gets cold before it reaches you. There is a fire place but the wood will cost you Rs.300 and the quantity is not specified ever.
Simple Yellow dal and chawal cost us Rs 800 for 4 people. Quantity was also so so.
The owner told us that the price is very economical and we should focus on enjoying and let him make money. He is not at all concerned about leaving a bad impression of Uttarakhand on the tourists.
Ranikhet is not worth visiting anymore because it's now heavily urbanised. so paying Rs.4000 per night per room is not at all feasible.
Rooms were spacious, prices were reasonable.bathrooms were clean. Overall a pleasant experience
Had visited the cottage it was wonderful experience and amazing stay at ranikhet strongly recommended to stay

This is a great heritage hotel, surrounded by deodar and pine forests, in the cantonment area. The peaceful Raj-era ambience seems to suggest that time stands still here. The lounge and dining hall are tastefully decorated with period furnishing, w
