Once upon the River - Resort hotel in Aluva, Chowara - Ernakulam, India

We went for a day put with our whole family. It was a family get-together. The package was good affordable with lunch, tea, snacks and pool facilities. Food was also good. Its an old property and they have added many new things to it. So the beauty is the river and the river view, old fashioned architecture. Its a good place for friends catch up, family get-together and also for family.

Poor hospitality and bad behaviour/attitude from staffs. Adding some additional points based on the reply from owner 1. Point one to reheat the food staff told its not possible in polite way and we accepted it without any issue 2. Highlighting some points where we felt bad from staffs Checkout was at 11 and we were getting ready to check out and pack our stuffs. The staff was standing outside all our room like thugs to throw us out. They were ringing the bell continuously and irritating us. Even there was 4 month old baby in the room which is breast feeding they not even showing humanitary acts they still kept on ringing bell and banging on doors and asking us to vacate. Yes we do understand the checkout time but hospitality or how a staff should behave in a tourist place is the one matters. Keep on banging our doors is not acceptable. There were kids, infants in the rooms so you should understand to get them ready and checkout might take some more minutes than the usual guests. 4 rooms we checked half past 11 and only 1 room took some more time Another point is the food stain in one of the bed sheets as per the comment it is a heavily stained linen. They charged us 1500 for this because as per them the stain cant be removed and we asked if it is refundable if we were able to clear it. And yes we gave to laundry and it was cleared. And they accepted to give us the refund today. So why try to loot money for this "heavily stained" drama as this can be cleared by there house keeping itself. So please try to provide good service in future and we wont recommend this resort to anyone. Thanks.

It was a nice, quiet stay. Rooms were well maintained. Staff was professional and courteous. Breakfast was not bad, but wish there were more options. Activities include pool, badminton, bicycles, small playground for children. Nice view of Periyar river.

Resort within 3 acres plot..., calm and quiet place. Pool available. Kids pool also there. Nothing much for fun activities. If you are looking for a calm and quiet place and for taking a few days rest you may chose here. Service was good.

Fabulous tiny and beautiful property, we loved our stay with Once Upon river property , the staffs are very friendly and most courteous. Specially FO team the warm welcome and the experience.

A wonderful getaway place for families/ friends, especially for large groups. Great hospitality & sumptuous food. It's a lush green, peaceful place overlooking periyar river. We spend the most of our time in their garden and around pool area, even though it was really sunny day we rarely felt the heat. Children love the playing space and definitely suggest others. The architecture is aesthetically done. Overall vibe of this place is out of this world. Special shout out to the friendly staffs too.

We were a group of 8 ladies who stayed overnight for a reunion program at the mangosteen house . We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the place. Rooms were spacious. The food tastes absolutely wonderful . The staff and their services are excellent. 5 stars to them
