Olive Ridley Turtles Mass Nesting Monitoring Centre, Gokharkuda - Tourist attraction in Gokharakuda, Sipakuda - Ganjam, India

Nice place. Situated some 2km from the NH near Gamjam police station. This is the confluence of Rushikulya river with Bay of bengal. It's a less known beach. Do talk with the locals. For some bucks, they will let you enjoy the boat ride. You can ride the boat upto the actual point where river and sea are touching each other.

Amazing place to watch Olive Ridley turtles. Even if you land on an offseason day, I can assure you that the untouched beach and the exquisite clean blue water of the sea will sweep you off your feet. A nice beach to also sit down for a small family picnic as well.

Olive Ridleys are mostly came here during thr last period of February.. & It's a very nice place for Mauz-Masti

The only place where mass nesting of Olive ridley turtles do occur in the month of mid February for a week long. this site is periodically checked and inspected by the state Forest Department. This is not a tourist place. This site is reserved and maintained by state forest department. This area becomes very crowded during mid of February to may end. As this is the egg laying area of endangered Olive Ridley turtles. They come in huge numbers max to 6 lakh in one season to lay eggs. That is called Aribada . The best time of the day to visit this place is mid-night to early morning. As the sun rises high , all turtles move to sea. By 8 a.m. the beach is totally empty. You can volunteer with due permission from forest department whose office is situated near by town ( BERHAMPUR). The District Forest Officer is the incharge of this area. Come to witness the wild nature. But be sensible about the eco system by discarding plastic.

I have learnt one of the most beautiful things about nature and life at this place. The #OLIVE RIDLEY TURTLES come here all the way from Australia to lay eggs in this beautiful & serene place located amidst a typical village of Odisha. 1. The view is absolutely mesmerising 2. These turtles r just amazing 3. U can actually see the entire egg laying process 4. And he small kids r even better. Odisha Govt has taken a good initiative and raised several kms of boundary lines to protect these turtles from other animals. Kudos to that... I am posting some of the pics I got so that u guys can know what to expect.

Very clean and beautiful beach.

This is a lifetime experience. Specially for us it was a experience worth cherished. We were told by The forest department of Odisha that this is the first time they saw eggs hatching and at the same time another group of olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea), also known as the Pacific ridley sea, coming and laying eggs knows as Arribada. Must see.
