Nice place for a photo shoot. But nowadays cleanliness is a big concern. Good place to visit. On your right you can see the mahanadi river and on the left its the Kathajodi river.

Much before the present day modern Barrage was constructed at Naraj over the river Mahanadi,this road was the only mode of connectivity between Cuttack and the far flung villages of Athagarh and beyond.During the monsoons when the mighty Mahanadi flows upto its brim,this road gets completely submerged and disappears under the muddy flood water thus completely disrupting connectivity to the villages lying to the west of Cuttack.It is only when the water starts receding after 2 to 3 months post monsoon,that this road starts to appear again. Now,with a new bridge built this is not used at all,a flight of stairs carved of stone made during the british era near the old embankment takes you down to this road.During the summer months you can walk till where the old flood gates used to be.The wall on the right while descending down has demarcations of all the major floods the city has seen,the worst being 1982 when the city almost got submerged. This ancient engineering marvel is a piece of heritage that has shaped this city in more than one way.
