Enthralling museum with a vast collection of historical artifacts, natural history exhibits, and artwork, complemented by a well-stocked library. Photography is permitted inside with a nominal fee, while mobile phones are subject to a charge. Ample parking and clean restrooms are available. Note that the museum is closed on government holidays. Parking : Available Entry Fee : Very nominal.
Odisha state museum has many interesting artifacts on display covering the history, art and culture of Odisha. It's a good place for history enthusiast as well young kids. When we visited there were few temporary exhibitions and those were fascinating as well. I specially liked the exhibition displaying art work from students of an art college. Having said that there are few improvement points for the museum. - Many rooms were closed for renovation. - Some part of the museum building was in a state of disrepair. - Most of the exhibits lack a display providing additional details about the work. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. Amazing collection, wonderful artifacts that belong in a bigger better maintained place. This museum has Pathetic maintenance. The employees are unmotivated, rude, and lack manners. I think some employees are even engaging in unethical activities. The rest rooms are broken, the rooms are damaged, the library is great but you can only access it if you have written permission from the Superintendent of the museum. Must visit place for the collection but don't expect anything else.
A good place where you can know about the odisha. Odia culture, language, Tribes, Ornaments and much more things. A well cleaned and proper arranged place where you can spend time exploring various galaries and exhibitions and also you can enjoy the sound show of paiko rebellion. You can spend at least a 2 hour of time to explore the museum fully. Photography is allowed with extra amount of payment. Ticket is very affordable starting from 20 rupees. So you can consider visiting this place to know odisha in different way possible.
