The O. V. Vijayan memorial is situated at Thasrak, the legendary village that formed the setting for the great Malayalam novelist's magnum opus Khasakinte Ithihasam. It is a tribute to the writer who arrived at Thassarak in 1956 along with his elder sister who was a teacher there. The memorial is administrated by the governing body called O. V. Vijayan Smaraka Samithi nominated by the Govt. of Kerala the department of culture.
The land and property inclusive Arabikkulam and Njattupura in Thasrak, Kodumbu Panchayath which actually bore witness to the literary phenomenon that was O.V. Vijayan, was decided to be purchased by the Government. And renovation works were initiated submitting the extensive outline for cultural complex. But somehow the work seldom progressed at desired pace.
Khasak is being accomplished in Thasrak in its new structural beauty.
The place is very scenic and beautiful.. However the funny policy by the government for a tourist place can turn away the visitors.. The place closes by 5 pm. No restaurant near this.. At least a place where we can get some tea would have been great..
Very poetic, beautiful and scenic place. I used to come and sleep at the gate part whenever possible, its awesome.

Really good place to visit. O V Vijayan one of the famous cartoonist and novelist in kerala,in the memorial we can see some cartoon drawings.Most good think is we can go to there see kerala oldest house and equipments that's really awesome.
Memory of the great OV Vijayan . Which is Maintained properly with its dignity. We can see the real living personalities which he mentioned in his novel Khasakinte Idhihazam. The place is now called as Thasrak. Which is in center of Paddy Fields with a wonderful views. It displays the culture and traditional importance if palakkad as well.
We can watch the documentary presentation regarding his life and some glance of his creations.
After years of waiting, I arrived here on a Sunday afternoon. A great place that carries the memory and life of Sri OV Vijayan.
