We had booked for 3nights but was forced to check out after one night due to bad service and facilities.
The executive suites are in pathetic condition. Dampness and Marks everywhere in the rooms. Stains in the towel and bedsheets.
Cleanliness of the bathroom was disgusting. Stains and dirt everywhere. The room does not match with the photos as well.
No hot water in the room. We had to literally scold them to get hot waters. Because the staff used to force us to accept the cold water as hot water. They carried buckets of water which was hot according to them. Though the water was just of normal temperature. And they gave us two small buckets of water for a couple to take bath and get ready. We had wait for 2-3 hrs for this. This ruined our whole plan of the day to visit few places.
There was power cut during night. They did not turn on the power back. Even we woke up early in morning to get ready we could not even get fresh as the bathroom was dark. We had to call them and wait for the generator to get started.
And our lunch experience was hilarious. We had ordered veg fried rice, plain white rice, chicken kasha and dal fry for two persons.The portions were not even enough for one person. And to make our experience even worse the chicken kasha and dal were very salty like we couldn't even take one bite. The server confirmed it after testing it and took it back . So to fix it the chef added hot water into it. Turning the chicken kasha into some of his own invented version of chiken curry which was disgusting and without any test. The boiled chicken they had used for making the chicken kasha started showing its true colour. So it was just boiled chicken and water with spices. The dal fry was runnier than the dal students get in government schools as part of free mid day meal.
The staff is clueless about everything. Dirts everywhere and lack of basic facilities. When you ask them for help they will say we are new here and we don't have any idea how to resolve your issue.
So my two cents regarding this Hotel is , burn your money or throw it into dustbin but don't stay here. They will ruin your trip to Darjeeling and your mental peace.

Food is tasty but I felt prices are a bit high, esp. milk prices are abnormally high in Gangtok also faced same issue.

Very good service. The location is nice and the staffs are very friendly and helpful. The food were very delicious as well. Although the price is a little bit expensive but the quality and taste is top notch.

The stay was just like a five star hotel. They provided us the best room of their hotel as per availability. Rooms are clean and bedding is comfortable!! We saw the best view of mountains and city from the room.

As this is a pure veg restaurant; they make sure you feel just like your home. Even they go extra and made some delicious food for my 1 year old.
Absolutely disappointing experience at Hotel Norling Retreat! We booked a premium room with a mountain view, but upon arrival, we were denied our mountain view and were told it would cost an additional 1200 INR to reserve it. This felt like a complete scam, and we were extremely disappointed. The bathtubs were dirty, and the geysers were too small to even fill up the bathtub, which is completely unacceptable, especially for a cold hill station. The food was also overpriced, just like the room itself. We feel completely ripped off and would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Do yourself a favor and find a more honest and deserving hotel to stay in.
