One of the most beautiful tourist attraction place at Garo hills. Must visit if you love trekking. You can trek the forest by taking a local guide from the village Daribokgre. PS- The national park is closed on Sunday.
Nokrek Biosphere Reserve, Tura, Meghalaya, is really an enchanting place. It is a ideal place to visit for the tourists who love hiking and nature. The hundreds of trees that are laden with sweet looking oranges creates a sense of excitement and spontaneous happiness among the visitors. The view from the peak is really amazing. The environment is very soothing. If anyone is planning to have a picnic , you can visit this really amazing destination.
Terrific place to go. People don't go back without going to nokrek. Along the way one would find interesting places to stop n wonder..
The park is located in West Garo Hills at a distance of 2 km from Tura Peak. Among the major animal species calling Nokrek National Park home are Asian Elephant, Marbled Cat, and Tiger but the park's fame is credited to Red Panda. Besides, the variety of birds that can be spotted here is a delight for any twitcher.
Nokrek National Park, the core area of Nokrek Biosphere Reserve, is a national park located approximately 2 km away from Tura Peak in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, India. UNESCO added the Nokrek Biosphere Reserve to its list of Biosphere Reserves in May 2009.Along with the Balpakram National Park in South Garo Hills, Nokrek is a hotspot of biodiversity in Meghalaya. Established in 1986, the National Park area comprising around 47.48 square kilometres is looked after by the Northern Nokrek and the Southern Nokrek Ranges of the Meghalaya State Forest Department under the administrative control of the Government of Meghalaya, India
